How should we reprove the wicked? 2 Tim. 4 :3, 4. (4) The Lord Is Gracious, vs. 14, 15. If you seek the Lord He will be found, v. 14. Love, righteousness; hate iniquity; the Lord is gracious, v. 15. Questions: What precious promise is given to those who seek the Lord? Psa. 34:12-14. Had God not been gracious what would have become of Israel? Isa. 1:9. Why is a remnant of Israel saved? Rom. 11:5. How will God show His grace to the- church ? Eph. 2:6, 7. PRACTICAL POINTS (1) Whoever persists in breaking 1God’s „ laws must perish by the enforcement of God’s laws. (2) The fire of God may be a flame to bless, or a furnace to burn. (3) The backslidden saint is exhorted to seek God, for he knows where to find Him. (4) The sinner is commanded to surrender to God, for He seeks sinners to save them. (5) If you attach yourself to God you can detach yourself from idols, (6) He that oppresseth the poor, opposeth his Maker. (7) Spiritual worship satisfies both the Sa­ viour and the soul. (8) It is wrath that strikes; it is mercy that saves. ... . . .... .

Seek and save yourself from judgment, v. 6. Questions: Why does God entreat Israel to seek Him ? Isa. 53:6 ; Rom. 3 :12. For what were they to seek in Him? Psa. 133:3; John 10:10. What is the real desire of the soul of the saint? Psa. 42:2. Does the Lord seek the sinner ? Gen. 3 :9 ; Luke 19:10. What is God’s call to the backslider? Jer. 29:13; 24:7. What danger confronts the backslider? Isa. 1:27-31. Is the proclamation of judgment sorrow­ ful to the Lord ? Luke 13:34, 35. (3) Latent Judgment Awaits the Wicked, vs. 7-13. They are urged to seek Him who made the stars, vs. 7, 8. Him who sends destruction, v. 9. Questions : Who sits in judgment upon judges, v. 10. Who pronounces awful judgment because of hateful sitis;'vs. 11-13. What judgment was foretold of Israel? Debt: ’29:18-20. Of "what'iniquity were the rulers guilty? Isa. 1:23. What law concerning the poor had they broken ? Ex. 22:22-26. What punishment was, to be inflicted? Deut. 28:30-39. Are all things known to God? Heb. 4:13. Did the Lord know that Israel would not hearken? Jer. 7:27. Is it the duty of God’s servants to warn men even if they will not hear? Ezek. 33:9.
