The San Diego Exposition
About three years ago, almost in the cen ter of the city of San Diego, there was a 1400-acre tract of land, free from buildings or foliage. Water never touched this mesa except from the rains which strike this southern city. Nothing grew, save cactus and sage brush, and a few scattered pepper trees struggling for life. Today on this very spot stands the San Diego Exposition, a gorgeous city of Old Spain. Now the land about the buildings, even down to the depths of the canyons, is cov ered with a thick undergrowth of semi- tropical foliage, beautiful large trees, spread ing shrubs, low bushes and flowers. The desert has been transformed into a magic garden. You should see this wonderful transforma tion.
