Solutions for Weeds
Late Winter/Spring Weed Control Program
Envu offers two premium preemergence herbicides for use in warm-season turf. The original, Ronstar ® , remains a standard while Specticle ® FLO offers a novel mode of action and a different class of chemistry than Ronstar. Both products provide outstanding control and have valuable features and benefits that are outlined below: Specticle ® FLO • Broad-spectrum control
Ronstar ® • Excellent control of goosegrass • Controls weeds via shoot uptake in the presence of sunlight (protox inhibitor) • No effect on turf root systems • For sites with winterkill concerns, use instead of Specticle FLO for first PRE application • Choose between Ronstar FLO and Ronstar on Fertilizer Application Best Management Practices: • Do not apply to saturated soils • Activate with light irrigation (0.1-0.125”) or rainfall soon after application • Delay application when major rain events are predicted soon after application • Cool-season turf options: only Ronstar on Fertilizer
• Excellent control of Poa annua , goosegrass, doveweed and annual kyllinga and sedges • Up to 6 months of residual control • Low amount of ai./A • Compatible with postemergence herbicides • Great complement to Ronstar Application Best Management Practices: • Apply when the soil is as dry as feasible - do not apply to saturated soils • Activate with light irrigation (0.1-0.125”) or rainfall soon after application • Delay application when major rain events are predicted soon after application • Avoid application to cool-season turf • In the topical region where weeds germinate and thrive year-around, consider consistently rotating preemergence herbicides with multiple modes of action including Specticle, Ronstar, Barricade ® , and others as appropriate. Also consider frequent tankmixes including postemergence herbicides such as Tribute ® Total, Celsius ® , low rates of glyphosate (5 oz./A of 4 lb. ai/gal. formulation), and others as appropriate.
