WHAT IS ULIVING @ HERTFORDSHIRE
In May 2013 Uliving@Hertfordshire plc achieved final agreement with the University for the College Lane Residences Project. The project was the cor- nerstone of the University’s ‘2020 Estates Vision’, a plan that saw the University invest significantly in its College Lane Campus; enhancing the student experi- ence through the creation of new student accommodation, investing in aca- demic facilities and securing landmark sustainability benefits in the process. The University and more specifically College Lane Campus was faced with two key issues: • There was not enough on campusaccommodation; and • The existing accommodation was of a poorquality, and the University was below the sectoraverage for the condition and suitability of itsresidential estate As a result, in July 2013 the design, build & refurbishment, finance and opera- tion (50 year concession) of 3,011 student rooms, common rooms, central hub, sports pitches and gym began. This design achieved BREEAM Outstanding following construction and a low carbon approach to power and energy gen- eration through an onsite CHP.
MISSION The mission of Uliving@ Hertfordshire is to provide the best campus life experi- ence in the sector. From in- ception, enhancing the stu- dent experience has always been a key requirement for the project. The incor- poration of availability and supply or demand risk for Uliving@Hertfordshire puts the achievement of a great campus life experience at the centre of its success.
VISION Uliving@Hertfordshire’s vision is to create an experi- ence for all students which helps them succeed both personally and academically by listening and anticipating their needs, while enhanc- ing long-term partnerships.
