During our furlough we have done just that, with 50 opportunities to speak and nearly 4000 miles of travel. In the first home we saw a man who for years stub bornly resisted the Gospel, continuing in his own rough way. Suddenly he opened his heart to Christ. What a transforma tion! . . . We had contact with preachers, realtors, insurance men, truck drivers, an internal revenue agent, policemen, lum bermen, a sheep raiser, fruit growers, a furniture store owner, a lumber mill owner, teen-agers. Wherever we found those who had opened their hearts to the Lord, there was the same result as we saw the evidence of a changed life.” Marjorie Thompson ’40, Venezuela: “ To live in Him more fully and thus to live for Him more fruitfully is my heart-long ing as I look toward my fourth term in Venezuela. Pray that the Lord will make us to serve Him with a willing heart, directed and empowered by the Holy Spirit.” Cal and Cornelia (Hettema ’45) Hib bard, Peru: “We have returned to the jungle after a few weeks of rest and change in Lima. Two hundred Indians from 17 different tribes have just returned to their isolated villages after 2 months of training here at our Jungle Base. Pray that they may maintain a good Christian testimony and teach many of their tribes men to read the Word in their own lan guage . . . You may remember our writ ing of Piro woman who was bewitched by one of the tribal witchdoctors who hated the Gospel. W e asked you to pray that God would deliver her from what seemed to be demon power. The Piros prayed, too; and they testify today that God has delivered. Rejoice with us that these relatively new Christians are trusting God for very real and positive victories in their lives. Do you think we’re doing much to reach the neglected people of the earth? Do you think Christians are getting the good news to the dark comers of the earth fast enough? LISTEN: Many tribes in Brazil are dying without the Gospel. In the last fifty years some 70 tribes have disap peared!” Dave ’49 and Mover ’49 Hiebert, Chile: “ God has answered our prayers! He has faithfully fulfilled that which He had promised. Step by step He has prepared our hearts and directed our paths to the land of Chile. The Chilean Field Council will be short a family in December because of furloughs . . . We are happy to help fill the gap. So that the work might not suffer too greatly for lack of personnel, we desire to be ready as soon as possible . . .
