WGO-18 WOMEN’S 18-HOLE GOLF ORGANIZATION

Congratulations to Shelley Savage as the 2018 WGO-18 Champion!

It is a record year for hole-in-ones. The most recent two belong to Susan Walthall and Judy Enright. Susan aced Number 17 at Argyle Country Club in Silver Spring, MD, while Judy holed Blue 4 at Arlington.

The CWGO Championship is wrapping up with the final rounds to be played September 22 at Arlington. While the final matches are being decided, another tournament will take place for those who either did not take part in the match play or were eliminated in earlier rounds. Called the Aspiring Champions Tournament, the event provides a new chance to move into the winner’s circle. Members should look for information via email on how to sign up. Winners of the Member-Member: Congratulations to Emily McGee and Andi Carpenter, overall winners of this year’s CWGO Member-Member Tournament held August 11 at Arlington. Low gross winners were Allison Ziegler and Jennifer Pollio. Member-Junior: CWGO’s annual Member-Junior Tournament beat the predictions for rain and came off without a hitch on with a full field of 27 junior players and 9 CWGO ladies. Special thanks to Laurie Bravo, Sharon Barcellos, Ellen Haffa, Linda Colon & Chuck Crenshaw for making the event a success. Interclub Competition: The CWGO Interclub Team keeps rolling along, amassing a 4-0 record in four-ball match play against area clubs. Logging wins against Piedmont (41-31), Hidden Creek (41.5 to 30.5.), Westwood (37.5-34.5) and Evergreen (38-34), our defending championship team has one regular season match to go.
