Meet the Western Growers Leadership Program Participants Freddy Rodriguez, Legacy Cooling
My wife (Lucy) and two daughters (Camila and Sienna) are both my greatest blessing and my greatest accomplishment. Lucy is as intelligent as she is beautiful and has been hugely supportive as I pursue my ambitions. I can only pray that my daughters take after their mother.
One of our favorite travel destinations is Maui, Hawaii. My wife, Lucy, and I recently celebrated our honeymoon there while expecting our first child. We enjoyed hiking, beach yoga, long drives to explore the reaches of the island and connecting with locals. The island is incredibly fertile and has such a deep and intriguing history.
When I travel, I like to visit nearby agricultural areas and experience local produce and cuisine. While in Maui, we traveled The Road to Hana, exploring the agricultural landscape of the mountain. We harvested our own coconuts and enjoyed locally grown indigenous fruits along the way.
I’m the proud owner of two Labrador Retrievers (Honey and Scarlet). They are incredibly intelligent and very gentle with our two young children. These girls love to hunt and are most in their element when retrieving decoys from a river or lake. They both love stealing shoes, and Scarlet will eat anything she finds (she’s become very popular with our veterinarian).
During my free time, I enjoy playing a round of golf or practicing archery. Both sports are incredibly challenging and difficult to master. I grew up playing team sports. I’ve grown to appreciate these individual sports because they require a higher sense of self-discipline, personal accountability and intense focus under pressure.
One of my proudest moments was when we baptized our daughter, Camila. Allowing our family and our community to bear witness to her first sacrament was a special moment for us.
