New Analytical Bible T he name does not begin to suggest the riches offered here to the student of the Bible, whether he is a beginner or one who has journeyed far. There are many unusual features combined in a work that is at once profound and scholarly, yet simple in its plan and detail. First, it is a Bible, not just a study help. The full text o f the Authorized, or King James, Version is used, but, inserted in brackets in the text itself, there are some five thousand instances o f the very different renderings that are to be found in thè text and also in the footnotes of the American Standard Version. This is valuable by way o f com parison, and in the main represents greater accuracy, although not all the translations given will be acceptable, nor are they al ways preferable to the older version. An other departure from the ordinary ref erence Bible is the omission of a column o f marginal texts, the texts usually so given being placed instead in small clear type under the verse itself. One of the outstanding characteristics of the work is to be found in its analytical features, which offer great possibilities for systematic Bible study. Each book o f the Bible is preceded by an introductory note and a full-page chart, and is followed by a complete outline o f its contents and a dis cussion o f “Outstanding Facts.” Often there is a special feature that the book itself suggests, such as a two-page study of the “ Songs of the Bible” following the Song of Solomon. Following Genesis, Judges, Revelation, and some other books is a page or two of “ Contemporaneous His tory,” with much information regarding nations and peoples only touched upon in the Word. After each of the books o f the Old Testament, there is a table o f quota tions from it in the New Testament, so that it is possible to turn at once to every New Testament reference to any event or character in the Old Testament books. Not only are the references given, but they are arranged and classified, making in them selves a perfect topical study of the New Testament references to Old Testament books. ! While in a few places the critical posi tion is touched upon, and occasionally ref erence is made to a statement as being the traditional view, there is never a question raised regarding the divine authorship, the full inspiration, and the authority of the Bible in its entirety. This note is struck with no uncertain sound in the opening pages, where there is a brief history of the manuscripts o f the Bible, its inspiration, and the progress o f doctrine. T o quote: “The authors of the Bible were divinely in spired to write what they did, and apart from such inspiration would not and could not have done so.” . . . There are thirty-four distinct features o f Bible helps, such as tables o f Bible chronology, laws o f the Hebrew people, the Jewish calendar, weights and measures, miracles of the Old Testament, harmony o f the Gospels, a list of the titles and names applied to the Holy Ghost in Old and New Testament, a topical study, in dex, atlas and maps, and a full concord ance. In fact, it is amazing that so much can be packed into its more than sixteen hundred pages, yet the thin, opaque paper makes a volume only the size o f the or dinary reference Bible. “ A short time ago I began to think about an income for the future. Experience taught me that some in vestments were not satis factory and secure. I had very little to expend but that little meant much to me. Safety therefore was the first requisite.” — M. P. . . . New York
“ In these days of uneasiness about investments, it is so comfortable to know that my annuity agreement with the American Bible Society is absolutely safe and that I can depend on the pay ments from it. And I know that all the time my money is doing good.” — A. D. . . . Illinois

Great satisfaction comes to the Christian in knowing that because of his annuity the comfort, the counsel and the challenge of the Scriptures will be distributed across the earth through the service of the American Bible Society. “ Mrs. S. and I are thoroughly pleased with the annuity agreement of your Socièty which we hold. We know that it is safe, and that the money which we have placed with you on the annuity basis will return to us a steady and reliable income no matter how long we may live. We like to think also that when we no longer need this income the principal will be used for the translation, publica
tion and distribution of the Scriptures, a work so essential to the Christian missionary program.” — J. S. . . . Oklahoma You, too, should know about these Annuity Agreements. The coupon below, filled out and mailed to us, will bring you full information.
