Franklin Building Supply - January 2022

2022 will bring a new highlight to celebrating the High Fives you are giving each other for jobs well done. Time to ramp up saying thanks to the folks around you who make a difference. The messages below were submitted by people across the company using HighFive@ FranklinBuildingSupply.com. Anyone can say thanks or good job using this easy tool. We welcome you to look for examples of great works that exemplify our keys to Making Building Easy: Wow (the amazing customer experience), Guide (smooth handoffs), Safe (all about watching out of each other), and Strive (continuously learning and improving). “I just checked out our sales per vehicle numbers for November and I am impressed! High Five goes out to our dispatcher, Byron Hinson, for keeping the wheels turning and making sure the trucks are fully loaded and routed properly. Nice job, Byron!” HIGH FIVES Celebrating Each Other

Once upon a time, the Treasure Valley was split into very clear lines. Homebuilders did not stray across the Ada and Canyon County lines. Our lumberyards in Boise and Caldwell didn’t either, except in rare circumstances for communities right on the border. To dispatchers of the 1990s and 2000s, Star, Idaho, was a sort of a no man’s land. Customers on both sides of the line would remain with the lumberyard on their side and balk at deliveries to their jobs from the “other” FBS yard. Today, of course, homebuilders stretch across multiple counties. The days of making decisions based on old parochial concerns are happily in the rearview mirror. The only thing that matters now is making deliveries to our customers on time and in full, regardless of where the truck started in the morning. That requires real-time balancing of drivers, equipment, inventory, and demand across county lines. Leading the charge to achieve this reality in western Idaho is Reuben Gutierrez, the new central dispatch supervisor. Reuben has the backing in this mission of Boise Yard Boss Amber Hall and Caldwell Yard Boss John Ward. The dispatchers who are figuring this out, day to day, are Gryffen Hanson and Micah Santos in Boise, and Matt Durham and Tyler Abrams in Caldwell. IT’S ALL ABOUT THE CUSTOMER IN DISPATCH DECISIONS

“I wanted to give a High Five to our overhead door crew here at the Jerome location. With all of the changes and all of our struggles with getting material, Curtis Hansen and Bryan Stuart, along with the rest of the crew, have done an amazing job. They have both kept a great attitude and have gone above and beyond their duties as well as being a helping hand and a great resource for myself. They both come in daily willing/ready to work and give it their all and are the first to lend a helping hand when needed. High Five to the two of them!”

–Kale Black, Jerome

“I would like to give Juan Carlos a High Five. I have worked with Carlos over in Boise for about five years. I then transferred out to Caldwell, and shortly after I did, Carlos also transferred out to Caldwell. In the short time he has been here, he really has stepped up to the plate and become a leader in the yard. He shows up every day with a great attitude and a willingness to lead the team and teach the new guys how to be team players and keep them on track. He brings a lot to the table and is willing and wanting to learn new things and likes to push himself to be better every day. We are grateful to have him here. Hopefully people will look up to him and push themselves to be like him, I know I do myself.”

–Randy Forgy, Caldwell

“Just wanted to give Jeff Watson, Boise Cabinets, a High Five for helping out with extra safety admin burdens while new management was being placed. Jeff was my go-to guy on several injuries and also some safety protocols. Jeff was never too busy to answer questions, find out information, and help with documentation and peer reviews.”

–Mike Nelson, Safety Director
