Iron is a powerful tool in chemistry due to its ability to catalyze organic reactions in a sustainable way. [1] In our research group, we have developed synthetic methodologies to exploit the full potential of its catalytic capabilities in the preparation of medium size oxacycles. [2]
Figure 1 .- Iron can be used to catalyze the preparation of medium-sized oxacycles. As shown in Figure 1, we have achieved the synthesis of various medium-sized oxacycles with different degrees of functionalization. These methodologies finally lead us to the shortest total syntheses of two natural products (+)-isolaurepinnacin and (+)-neoisoprelaurefucin.
