The three judges who will determine which restaurant has the best pie are City council- lor Kyle Cyr, Amanda Clayton, Tim Horton’s restaurant manager, and Pierre Labrecque, a self-proclaimed pizza lover and resident who was named one of the judges through a contest ran by TVC22.
The judges will be served a pepperoni pizza and the establishment’s signature pizza dish. The criteria will be based on several factors including taste and presentation. “We have been planning this for a few months, so we are excited to see how eve- ryone responds to this (the pizza contest),” said Linda Pilon, the treasurer of the board of directors of TVC22, who led the organization and planning of the station’s pizza compe- tition. “If there’s a big buzz and there is a demand for it, we can discuss about having a pizza contest each year. What could possibly be a more contro- versial question than who has the best pizza in Clarence-Rockland? Clarence-Rockland’s local television sta- tion hopes to get to the bottom of the matter, asking residents across the municipality to vote for their favourite pizza. In partnership with the City of Clarence- Rockland, TVC22, an independent not-for- profit organization founded in 1990 as a community TV station whose main mandate is to produce TV shows, is launching the pizza competition. “It’s a fun activity, and really, everyone loves pizza,” said Renee Gratton, the general director of TVC22, who joined the organiza- tion last fall. “It’s a way for people to know that we exist, but also a fun activity to involve the residents of the region.” On Friday, June 28, and Saturday, June 29, residents are asked to purchase a pizza from five participating pizza restaurants, between the hours and 12 p.m. and 8 p.m. The five local establishments who are
