PHYSICIAN SPOTLIGHT Dr. Fernando Alemany INTERNAL MEDICINE July 2019
Where are you originally from? I’m originally from San Germán, Puerto Rico: the second oldest city in the new world (this hemisphere). Why did you choose OGHS? I chose Opelousas General Health System because it is a community-oriented hospital. This is where I always wanted to work. What is your favorite thing about working at OGHS? My favorite thing about working at OGHS is the people! The nursing staff really cares about their community and dedication to the care of the patients. What do you enjoy most about being a physician? The most rewarding part of being a physician is the smiles we get from the care that we give. What would you like everyone to know about you? I joined the medical staff of OGHS in February of 2000. We treat everyone like family. We truly live our mission of “our family caring for yours.” What do you like to do in your free time? I really like to cook! Outside or inside; on the BBQ. I’ve got five. My favorite dish is Spanion Paella.
