TO: ALL MEDICAL STAFF MEMBERS FROM: SCOTT PARKS, MD – CHIEF OF STAFF SUBJECT: PRIORITY ADMISSION / TRANSFER CRITERIA FOR ICU / PCU DATE: MAY 16, 2019
Guidelines to determine the priority of transfer in or out of ICU and PCU were re-approved by the Medical Staff of Opelousas General Health System in September of 2018. According to the policy, a cumulative score is assigned to the patient based on his/her therapeutic regimen and system assessment. The patient is then classified into one of three categories -transferable, possible transfer if acute bed is needed, and not eligible for transfer. This assists in identifying which patients are eligible to move to another unit in the event that the unit is at maximum capacity. Should the need for an emergency admit arise, the patient’s primary care physician will be contacted for consultation regarding patient condition and ability to transfer to another unit. We appreciate your support and participation in this patient safety process.
2019 AHEC GRADUATING CLASS
Congratulations to the 2019 AHEC graduating class. We enjoyed the time that they spent with us rotating through various departments and listening to guest speakers about health careers. We wish them much success in their future endeavors. We would also like to thank Dr. Mia Ben for taking time out of her schedule to sharing her experiences as a Pediatrician.
