LEVELS OF LISTENING
There are three levels of listening. Levels of Listening is a simple tool to help you see where you are in terms of focusing and listening in various situations.
LEVEL 1:
You hear words and sounds but you don't really listen; instead you focus on what you want to say next or how the other person's words relate to you You really try to understand what the other person is saying and see things from their point of view Deep, "sixth sense" listening that helps you uncover what is most important to the person speaking and what is underneath the words he/she is saying

1. If a movie crew landed in your last meetings and observed you in action over the course of a week, what would they observe? (Rewind the tape on last week to bring this to life to identify specific behaviors)
2. From their observations what might they say or conclude are some of your values?
3. How does this line up with the values you want people to say you model as a leader.
4. Thinking about one value that is important to you to embody as a leader in your job, what is one thing you can do each week that will model this value so it is easily observed by others and obvious it is key value for you?
