WORKSHOP 15: DEALINGWITH CONFLICT

Unnecessary conflict in the workplace has a major impact. Helping people to avoid it, and if required tackle it effectively, are therefore significant steps towards improving people’s engagement at work and the quality of internal and external relationships, as well as overall productivity and financial performance. Jim Thomas, ‘business performance improver’ and managing director at PDW Group UK will explore the psychology of difference, and why people so often appear to view difference as ‘bad’ and not ‘good’. He will focus on behavioural preferences, what to look for, and how to avoid unnecessary conflict.

Jim will also delve into when conflict does arise, how to diffuse it, as well as how to minimise it when, for instance, delivering a difficult message to a colleague or client, and minimising the risk of conflict or backlash.

Jim works both as a diagnostician and as a solution provider working on both behavioural development and non-behavioural aspects of business performance in areas such as customer advocacy, performance management and new business development. He has significant commercial, people and operational experience within sectors including food and drink, agriculture, professional and financial services and communications and media to name a few.

An important part of wellbeing in the workplace is personal development. We all know just how important this is on an individual level; but what about the benefits for your organisation?

Personal development helps ensure employees feel satisfied and motivated within their role. This ultimately leads to a happier and more productive team with higher staff retention – an unquestionable benefit to any organisation.

We are pleased to introduce two workshops that have been designed to improve your understanding of wellbeing in the workplace. This could be on an individual level, or from a management perspective. We are sure that after attending the workshops, you will leave better prepared to tackle difficult issues and will be on your way to a more harmonious workplace.

WORKSHOP 10: THINKING INSIDE THE BOX Pam Hadfield, senior lecturer in work-based learning and mentoring at the University of Derby, will share with you how we think and how our thinking process influences multiple decisions we make.

We all know the saying ‘Think outside the box’ – but when was the last time you questioned what’s actually happening in the box?

Come and listen to Pam and leave with a fresh perspective and new approaches to how you think.

WORKSHOP 25: TAKING CARE OF YOUR ‘SPROUT STORE’

David Algeo (aka the stressed guru) of Algeo Training Limited, will be looking at how you can take care of your ‘sprout store’.

Building on the session David delivered at last year’s conference, he will help you to positively manage stress. This includes the importance of building your stress reserves, understanding your coping reserves (your sprout store) and how to restock your coping store.
