cerned if you enlarge your knowledge of people — boys in particular. “Reason three is more or less per sonally yours. You have a difficult time making friends; it is a real effort for you to get acquainted. Dick was easy to know. He has put forth most of the effort in your growing friend ship. This is not best for your per sonality development. You have helped Dick spiritually, but by the way you’ve been acting, we are forced to the conclusion that he has not helped you. Friendship is a two-way street. “ I know what it is to not under stand some of my Father’s dealings with me. It is difficult to be thankful for disappointments and unfulfilled desires. But the Bible commands us: ‘In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.’ (I Thess. 5:18). It is not a Pollyanna gratitude, but a simple placing of your heart and will at the disposal and into the care of the Saviour, and trusting your all, even this matter of boys and dating, to His wisdom and love. W ill you do this, Darling, and be thankful that he never makes a mistake?”

parents, and they don’t understand us.” The eyes of our sixteen year old were filled with tears of frustration. “ There are at least three reasons I can give you, Dorotheann. You will likely not understand or be grateful now for my attitude, but your Father God expects obedience even though you don’t understand. “ Reason one is: you lack emotional maturity and because of that you cannot know that Dick is the boy best suited to your personality needs. At sixteen, you can’t know the one that God has planned for you. You have ahead of you six years of preparation for serving the Lord in some capacity. God understands your emotional make-up, and He knows who the boy is that at this stage of life could un derstandably lead you into the doing of foolish and unwise things. God never leads anyone into the path of temptation. Don’t ever forget that, Honey! “ Reason two: You rob yourself of much fun and appreciation of var ious characteristics when you tie your self to one boy exclusively. How can you possibly know the varied person alities of other fellows if you fellow ship only with one? God’s will for marriage, will be much better dis

THANKSGIVING AT HOME D o n ’ t expect me to be thankful, Mother. I’m just not and I might as well be truthful. Neither would you be if at my age you couldn’t go out with the one boy you liked.” “ At your age I didn’t like just one boy, Dear. I didn’t allow myself to get ‘tied’ to one fellow. In my day, and for myself, two dates with a boy did not mark me as exclusively his. I went with several different boys and had what your generation calls a ‘blast’ .” “Well, what’s so wrong about go ing with only one? You admit you like him. Oh, I just don’t understand
