"HE has filled the hungry with GOOD THINGS’’ — LUKE 1:53 • The Lord has given us a wide field of service among the Jews — as wide as the Jewish dispersion among the nations, as deep as their spiritual and physical distress. Our Saviour has ap pointed us to the giving of the Gospel to these multitudes, the care for the hungry, the destitute, the widows and the orphans. • To face these people daily as we do is an experience which cannot be lightly dismissed or forgotten. The emaciated and undernourished chil dren are a special burden upon our hearts. We have seen the mothers and fathers sick with anxiety because they cannot provide their children's needs. It makes us feel guilty that we have been favored with so much, when they have so little. 8 There is an even deeper need. We have witnessed the agony of soul of many in search of God's presence. His forgiveness and His love. Only Christ, the Bread of Life, can assuage their hunger. ® From India, Israel, Eu rope, and from across our own American continent, the cry of God's people Israel grips our hearts. • At this holiday season as we contemplate our Lord's abundant goodness to us, let us remember with love these brethren of our Lord in their hour of need. Help us bring Christ to them in all His saving power. • Your prayerful, loving, and thankful help is urgently needed. His "well done, good and faithful serv ant" will be your reward. would not come and that I would never have to see him. Is this wrong? I am a Christian and 1 pray for all of us. It’s awful to have your own father “ visit i” you! Name withheld Location withheld My dear young friend: It makes my heart ache to hear of such burdens being placed upon such youthful shoulders. The Lord will see you through, my dear, and you must dry your tears, be brave and be your mother’s “ right-hand man.” She will need all the help you can give her with the other four children. How blessed to know the Lord and to be able to pray together! Two things "will soon solve this problem: you are getting old enough so that you will not be required to see your father, and likely his marriage will make his visits more and more irregular until they may even cease. This is often the pattern in such cases. It is best for all of you children to see him together now for the younger ones cannot understand and you could not tell them why you did not want to see your father. Be as sweet and kind as you can to him and show him what it means to be a Christian. Do not give up praying for his salvation. God bless all of you. Help your mother to maintain fam ily worship, reading, the Bible and praying with the children, for that will make your home strong, even if your father has lost his place as its head by his wrong-doing. . . . for November November is the month for Thanksgiving. Dear Aunt Betty: I would appreciate it very much if you would not use even my first name and not give my town or state. Please tell me what to do. I am 15 and have four younger brothers and sisters. Our home used, to be very happy but my folks are divorced and my father is going to marry another woman. M y mother is a wonderful Christian and she tried to keep my father from drinking and running around and our pastor tried to help him too but he would not stop. Nearly every night I cry myself to sleep. I still love my father and wish he was saved. Here is my problem : M y father is allowed to come to see us once a week. M y Mother makes us dress up on Saturdays and get ready for him. He brings us presents and plays with the little kids. But I fust can’t talk to him. I just sit there, answering his questions, trying not to cry. 1 wish he
