car to door service is then provided for our disabled racegoers to take them to the Hall of Fame entrance to the racecourse. “It is a superb method with the buggy taking you to the entrance,” Peter says. “It is so easy and my grandson loves it – he thinks it is immense. I know that it is appreciated by many and the staff are always so accommodating and helpful.” Cheltenham Racecourse introduced an initiative which meant that a complimentary ticket would be available for each disabled racegoer to bring along a carer with them. “This is a fantastic idea and Cheltenham has come such a long way for encouraging disabled people to go racing,” Peter says. “It is of huge benefit that each raceday we are able to apply for a carers ticket through the very easy to use portal.” Disabled racegoers are able to apply for their complimentary ticket on each raceday via the website cheltenham.co.uk. “The process is faultless, absolutely brilliant. Tickets arrive promptly, the

process is very easy, and very worthwhile doing.” An avid sports fan, Peter and his family are frequent visitors to Cheltenham and other top sporting venues such as Lords cricket ground. “Cheltenham is probably the best on the accessibility front,” Peter explained. “It is so well equipped, and the staff are so helpful – I struggle to consider what Cheltenham could do to enhance the accessibility that would improve my experience.” When asked why he continues to come back to Cheltenham as he heads into his 60th year of attending the races, Peter simply said: “There is nowhere like it. There’s nothing like when you hear that roar when they say ‘they’re off!’ for that first race of The Festival.”
