J unior Jumpers ™ is a free membership available to under-18s who have a love for Jump racing. Complete with swing badge and membership pack, Junior Jumpers gain access to exclusive behind-the-scenes events and newsletters, plus they are first to hear exclusive information about our Family Fun Days. From presenting race trophies, to access to the Weighing Room, our Junior Jumpers have an extraordinary experience throughout the season. This year Cheltenham Racecourse hosted ‘A Morning to Remember’ on Thursday 18th April, ahead of the afternoon’s racing, exclusive to Junior Jumper members. With 125 children in attendance, the group were able to visit the last fence on the course and learn all about fence building from members of
our ground staff team, before heading over to the Pre-Parade Ring for a vet demonstration by a Vet Physio, marking up an ex-racehorse in bright colours to show the key areas. ITV Racing’s Luke Harvey was waiting for each group in the Weighing Room, ready to talk through the kit each jockey wears, the Weighing In and Out process, as well as offering behind the scenes access to the changing rooms and facilities. The morning finished with the children getting the chance to put all they had learned to the test by showing off their skills on the equicisors with the help of Racing to School. “My kids, together with my wife and I, attended the Junior Jumpers event at Cheltenham and it was amazing! The organisation was outstanding and we couldn’t believe how many brilliant activities had been laid on, from the walk on the course to the vet talk and the Weighing Room visit with Luke Harvey, who was wonderfully informative and funny, having genuine enthusiasm for making the day special. It was a great day, right down to the goody bags and Easter eggs which delighted the kids.”
