Treating and Preventing Low Back Pain with Physical Therapy Exercises
National Institutes of Health. Titled, “A Systematic Review of the Effects of Exercise and Physical Activity on Non- Specific Chronic Low Back Pain,” this study analyzes the efficacy of active physical therapy as a treatment method for back pain. Results of this study were overwhelmingly positive, demonstrating that exercise programs consisting of muscular strength, flexibility, and aerobic fitness were beneficial to patients recovering from lower back pain. These exercises were also effective in preventing pain from returning again in the future. Researchers from this study state: “Increasing core muscular strength can assist in supporting the lumbar spine. Improving the flexibility of the muscle-tendons and ligaments in the back increases the range of motion and assists with the patient’s functional movement. Dr. Danielle Kelly, PT, DPT is an AMAZING therapist! I was really concerned about starting physical therapy after a back injury. Danielle took
the time to listen, ask questions and make sure everything was properly diagnosed. I was pleasantly surprised with my experience at Recovery Physical Therapy, Fashion District. It feels like she truly cares. I didn’t feel rushed and she walks me through all the exercises herself to make sure I was practicing properly. I appreciate her being on time and pushingmewhen needed. Danielle is very knowledgeable and takes time to explain everything. Russell is also an extremely knowledgeable and professional therapist.” - P.S.
