Uranium breaks down to radium, which then decays into radon gas. This gas can move up through the soil into the atmosphere or be drawn into a building or home. The United States Environmental Protection Agency (“EPA”) and the U.S. Geological Survey have identified Carbon, Duchesne, Grand, Piute, Sanpete, Sevier and Uintah Counties in Utah as a Zone 1 Counties, areas with the potential for high radon levels based on the local geology, radon tests in these Counties, and other factors.
