With SAICA/UJs 100% online courses, CAs are future-proof

A series of short online courses designed to future-proof CAs in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution was launched by the SA Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) together with UJ in May 2019. 4IR for Accountants is a suite of four online courses designed especially for CAs, to assist them in their lifelong learning journey to adapt to the interconnected technological world we live in today. Aimed at SAICA Continuing Professional Development (CPD), the courses are driven by competencies that directly relate to SAICA’s 2025 vision for the accountancy profession. Key topics include artificial intelligence, machine learning, natural language processing, blockchain and ethics. “The new courses allow SAICA members to gain deeper insights into a topic,” said Chantyl Mulder, executive director of Nation Building at SAICA at the launch, stressing the importance of continuous professional development for SAICA members during the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The technical aspects of the programme were created by engineers, Prof Babu Paul and Dr Wesley Doorsamy, while
