A COMMUNITY OF CREATIVE ARTS

Creative arts come alive in Indiana County through a wide variety of mediums, such as live entertainment, performing arts, multiple galleries and weekly classes. There is always something to see! A strong community base of organizations revolving around the arts has put Indiana County on the map. The Indiana Art Association stimulates the artistic growth and development of members through encouragement, education and exhibits while promoting interest, appreciation and participation in the arts. The Indiana Arts Council fuels Indiana County’s artisan community and provides a resource for assisting artists with grant opportunities and job searches, bringing art into public spaces and unique and new events to the region. Highlights include the Arts Walk and the Youth Arts Celebration. Spruce Arts hosts artists in residence as part of their annual programs. Artists from around the world come to draw inspiration from and experience the creative energy of Indiana County. The IUP University Museum brings students, faculty, and artists

together for exhibitions and events that enhance our understanding and appreciation for art and the world we live in. The Smicksburg Amish Countryside is home to a community of specialty shops where you can purchase hand-crafted items, such as pottery, wooden items and quilts, from local artisans.

If you enjoy live entertainment, check out a show or performance at the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex (KCAC) and the Lively Arts at IUP. The Indiana Players, a local community group, and the Indiana Theater also offer a full schedule of shows throughout the year. Indiana County is the destination for public art, local galleries, and studios with some of the most talented artists in the region.
