Housing Choices Australia Group - Annual Report 2020

Housing Choices Tasmania’s first Christmas celebration kicked o in Latrobe for 110 guests. Each year, HCT hold 6 Christmas functions with around 500 residents and families attending the luncheons. Housing Choices Tasmania is also on the committee for Christmas in the East, where we support over 2000 residents of the East Devonport community. Housing Choices Tasmania held resident Christmas functions across the state from Latrobe to Hobart, and over 350 residents and their families enjoyed the luncheons. The events were stacked with lots of fun and games, pass the parcel and Santa joining us from the North Pole. We're thrilled that our residents enjoyed the luncheons so much, and we already have bookings for next year! The South Australian Resident Christmas Lunch kicked o at the Klemzig Community Hall. It was wonderful to see so many people meeting friends, old and new, and sharing in lively conversation. HCSA were privileged to be joined by Nat Cook MP, Rachel Sanderson (Member for Adelaide), and Sue Lawrie representing Vincent Tarzia (Member for Hartley), Mark Harrington from the HCSA Member Company and Kaurna Elder, Neville Highfold. The delicious food was provided by Aussie Ripper Roasts and beverage service from Gogo Events. It was a brilliant celebration and a spectacular way to see o the year.

Housing Choices’ annual resident Christmas party for Victoria in 2019 was another huge success. Held at the Melbourne Town Hall, we had over 350 residents, 55 sta, 15 interpreters, and 9 guests, including the Lord Mayor of the City of Melbourne, Sally Capp and the Chair and Deputy Chair of the Housing Choices’ Board, Heather McCallum and Fabienne Michaux in attendance. As our resident guests settled in, our Welcome to Country by Gheran Steel from Boon Wurrung Foundation started the day. Brian Nankervis (from RocKwiz fame and ABC radio) then led a rousing and fun intro and music quiz with shoutouts from our tables. Later Zoy Yerondais, one of our Housing Team Leaders, guided us through the afternoon events. Lord Mayor Sally Capp presented the Good Neighbour Awards on stage to our residents. Activities included sta singing and resident award presentations, live music, a talented magician who wandered around each table entertaining with cards and other tricks, face painters and a photobooth to keep everyone amused while they waited for the much anticipated guest, Santa. Sta had a chance to celebrate the end of another successful year with our residents and enjoyed a two-course meal served with light refreshments. We have received very positive feedback.
