Beyond 2021, there is an exciting and extensive pipeline of further SDA opportunities being explored, which will contribute to the continued growth and renewal of HCA’s SDA portfolio. Critically, all SDA growth and renewal projects will be underscored by the SDA Design and Development Principles to ensure that high quality housing outcomes are achieved for residents with a disability.
The HCA Property Development team have been working collaboratively with the Specialist Housing Group to establish these principles and to implement them across various current and future projects. There are currently 25 new SDA dwellings (across five projects) approved by the HCA Board and in construction; the design and construction of new SDA dwellings is based on the SDA Design and Development Principles described above. It is anticipated that the 25 new SDA dwellings will be completed and ready for occupancy in 2021. The new SDA dwellings will provide an opportunity for HCA to test and refine how the five design principles are implemented in the final built form.
