Early in 2019 Housing Choices Tasmania was thrilled to receive $8 million in funding under the Federal Government’s Improving Social Housing Outcomes program, to support the building of 32 homes across Hobart, a project enthusiastically supported by Andrew Wilkie MP, the Independent Member for Clark. Located on a magnificent hillside setting in the Hobart suburb of Rosetta, 26 contemporary 2-bedroom homes for people in need are heading for completion by early 2021, with a smaller development in Granton to follow.
Thankfully, building through a Hobart winter during COVID-19 didn’t slow the Rosetta construction progress down too much. The designed dwellings are built to Silver standard of the Liveable Housing Design Guidelines, making them fully accessible for older residents and those living with a disability. Even more inspiring than our committed development team and construction crew, are the breathtaking views these residents will have across the magnificent Derwent River.
