In our largest Oswald Barnett Oration to date, 2020 saw over 300 attendants at the MPavilion. A warm summer evening combined with an eminent panel of sector experts; the 2020 Oration again lifted Housing Choices’ presence in the community housing sector. Our Managing Director, Michael Lennon, was joined on the panel by Victorian Minister for Housing, Planning & Multicultural Aairs, Richard Wynne MP, the Lord Mayor of the City of Melbourne Sally Capp, CEO of NHFIC Nathan Dal Bon, and Victorian Executive Director of the Property Council of Australia Cressida Wall. Peter Mares, from the Cranlana Institute for Ethical Leadership moderated the panel and pushed each of the panellists to deliver candid and worthy responses. All panellists provided valuable insights on the urgent need for increasing aordable housing supply in Victoria. The panel all recognised the collective responsibility of government to work closely with the community housing sector to combat the housing crisis. The event brought together community housing providers, partner organisations, Housing Choices sta, government ocials and representatives, industry super funds, the property sector and other leading sector voices. Guests were welcomed to the space and served with a selection of drinks and delicious canapes. Guests stayed and chatted with one another long after the conclusion of the panel discussion, using the MPavilion space as a place to discuss a mutual passion for aordable housing.
