Storytelling That Inspires
At TPT, we leverage engaging storytelling to make an impact on our shared communities. Stories have the ability to educate, spark empathy, inspire action and drive real change. This past year, TPT brought powerful stories to life across Minnesota and beyond – tackling urgent social issues, spotlighting pivotal moments in history, igniting conversations in our communities, celebrating creativity and culture, and reaching new audiences across multiple platforms.
MINNESOTA EXPERIENCE At the start of 2024, TPT released four new “Minnesota Experience” films that center on some of the trailblazers who have shaped Minnesota in more recent history. Jesse Venture Shocks the World! To coincide with the 25th anniversary of Jesse Ventura’s inauguration as the Governor of Minnesota, we premiered “Jesse Ventura Shocks the World!” in January, a film that looks back at the origins, evolution and surprising impact of one of the most famous, infamous, unpredictable and enigmatic governors in American history.
Hope in the Struggle: The Josie Johnson Story Timed with Black History Month in February, we premiered “Hope in the Struggle,” featuring the life and work of Freedom Fighter, activist and educator Dr. Josie Johnson. Known as Minnesota’s “First Lady of Civil Rights,” Dr. Johnson fought for fair housing, education and civil rights, and she shares how her experiences turned her to activism and how the next generation is taking up the mantle. The struggle for justice and equality continues, but there is hope in the struggle.
