HOLIDAYS AT THE HEARD Where: Heard Natural Science Museum and Wildlife Sanctuary When: Dec. 14–15; 6:30–9 p.m. Admission: $9 for adults and seniors, $5 for children 3–12, free for kids under 2 Website: HeardMuseum.org If you enjoy seeing all the Christmas lights each year, you’ll be sore to miss this event. The Heard Natural Science Museum and Wildlife Sanctuary incorporates nature’s natural beauty with brilliant light displays. Stroll along a half-mile trail and enjoy the sparkling lights leading your way. Attendees can take pictures with Santa and Mother Nature, enjoy treats and hot drinks, and revel in family-friendly entertainment, including live music performed in the amphitheater.
APPLE ‘COOKIE’ DECORATING STATION Where: The Dallas Farmers Market When: Every Saturday in January; 12:30–1 p.m. Admission: Free! Shopping at your local farmers market just became much more exciting for your little ones! On each Saturday throughout January, while enjoying the many shops and eateries, join Natural Grocers’ nutritional health coach to learn about healthy food choices. Children are welcome to decorate apple “cookies” with healthy foods, and all are invited on a tour around the market afterward.

New Year’s brings a slew of resolutions, and what better way to start off the year than by running the Commitment Day 5K? Get your heart pumping on Tuesday morning with this nationwide run.
