We are the church-
First year student, Mikaela Steiner, is one of the students who participated in OAE this school year. Follow along as Mikaela shares her journal entries from her personal experience on OAE and her newfound passion for evangelism. This school year, many participated in Open Air Evangelism (OAE). This is one of the many ways that we’re given to step outside of the classroom, step way outside of our comfort zones and learn how to take the gospel into the world, specifically the New York City streets. “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.” Jesus didn't give us the Great Commission as a suggestion but as a command for us to make disciples. A common misconception to us is that it’s the church’s responsibility to share the gospel and to make disciples. We must shift our thinking that it’s not our responsibility. Who is the church? As a body of believers, we are the church. In that case, the Great Commission was given to every believer- to make disciples. In order to make closer followers of Christ or disciples, we must take the gospel out to the lost to first make followers.
