Launch of the NEW Level 4 Payroll Specialist Certificate

H ow we all love an acronym! Well, let me introduce you to one that you’ll be eager to get to know – PSC. The Payroll Specialist Certificate (PSC) is the brand new Level 4 qualification entering the payroll world. I want to take you back a little to where the idea of the PSC began. The CIPP was hearing feedback from its members that the payroll industry needed shorter, payroll technical qualifications from Level 4 onwards. On hearing this, the CIPP started to investigate and invited specialists within the payroll industry to take part in focus groups to discuss the real needs within payroll departments administering UK payroll. Following extended research, the CIPP’s material authors, learning developers and instructional designers got to work and the Level 4 PSC was born. Tell me more… This shiny new Level 4 qualification will be delivered and awarded by IPP Education Limited (IPPE), a wholly owned subsidiary of the CIPP. IPPE offers a range of professional qualifications to support individuals at all stages of their payroll, pensions or reward career. A Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) assessment is in place for individuals that don’t have formal qualifications and wish to enter through their professional payroll experience. On completion of the PSC, students will: l have a more in-depth understanding of the intricacies of the payroll function l be able to apply rationale to non- routine issues l understand how to mitigate against risks of non-compliance.
