King's Business - 1968-05

TH A N K YOU ! Thank you so much for “ The Bible By Radio” (Jan. issue). I am one of those “ whose rise up to call Louis T. Talbot ‘blessed’.” I have thanked God anew for this devoted man o f God, and even though sitting under his radio and pulpit ministries only briefly, God used these ministries to bring me wholly out o f those last terribly confused indoc trinations o f Seventh-day Adventism. M a ry J. Lyons, W est N e w Y o rk , N .J. KB FOR ALUMNI A thoughtful grift subscription to THE KING’S BUSINESS is appreci ated very much. This keeps us — as alumni — tied to Biola and aware of what is happening to our alma mater. M r. and M rs. Jim T e rry , Ta y lo r, M ichigan E d ito r ’ s N o t e : Through our KING’S BUSINESS “Free Fund,” we have been able to answer the requests of pastors and native evangelists in for eign lands who otherwise do not have money to subscribe. Many ministers in these foreign countries must exist on between $25.00 and $50.00 a month. At the present time, we are approximately $75.00 in arrears in our “Free Fund,” having sent out more subscriptions than contributions received. Tax-deductible receipts are issued for those who are interested in this publication ministry reaching the hearts of spiritual leaders in various parts of the world.

world attention is not quite clear as yet. But it is possible that the current controversy about the ‘new morality’ and the binding force of the ten com mandments will focus attention on the significance of the decalogue as an ex pression of God’s holy will. It is quite possible too that many sincere students of the Bible will conclude that any tam pering with the commandments is tan tamount to denying their divine origin.” W est N ew Y o rk , N .J. FUNERALS Referring to KING’S BUSINESS, February 1968 issue, I like very much Dr. Robert L. Thomas’ “meaty” article on “ The Inspiration and Inerrancy of the Scriptures.” Also, very interesting reading was “ Welcome To The Club” by Rev. John MacArthur, Jr., who suc- cintly classifies present-day so-called churches! You welcome comments on the sub ject of Funerals, from Pastor Robert Warren’s article on same. His sugges tions were quite Scriptural or New Testament-related, and t h e s e ideas should continue to be expressed in other articles, and must, if there is ever to be any changes in the order of Chris tian funerals. It would be interesting to know whether Pastor Warren would care to have his suggestions fallowed for his family’s funeral! R ev. E. E. B., W aianae, Haw aii

doctrines they have held; in spite of the white-washing by some evangelicals of a few years ago. To confirm and give additional evi dence, may I share with you portions of a letter received during February, 1968, from a distinguished SDA pro fessor in the SDA Middle East College of Beirut, Lebanon; Dr. S. Julio Schwantes: “ I . . . believe that the ‘mark o f the beast’ is Sunday fo r the simple reason that I believe that the Sabbath is the seal of God. That the servants o f God will receive a ‘seal’ is quite clear from Revelation 7. Those who receive the seal will have the ‘ Father’s name writ ten on their foreheads’ ( Rev. 14:1). Of course this is not to be taken lit erally, but symbolizes that God’s faith ful ones will have God’s character, and meet God’s approval. As such they will have conquered the beast and will be seen ‘standing on the sea o f glass’ (Rev. 15:2). Since the last crisis on earth will be somehow concerned with God’s commandments — attention is called to those who “keep the command ments of God and the faith o f Jesus’ Revelation 14:12 — it seems logical to connect the ‘ seal o f the living God’ with the fourth commandment. Of the Sabbath it is said that it was ‘a sign between me and you, that you may know that I the Lord am your God’ (Ezek. 20:20). How the Sabbath issue will be brought to the forefront o f
