RENOLIT UK WELCOMES LOCAL MP

Simon Wilson, the managing director of RENOLIT UK Limited, was delighted to welcome Emma Foody MP as well as Chris Kelsey and Michelle Wilcox from NECC at the company’s manufacturing facility in Cramlington, Northumberland. As well as an opportunity to tour the site and meet employees across the business, discussions centred around major capital projects either already in progress or to be installed over the next few years. After recent multi-million pound investment in a new embossing line, work is already ongoing to install a roof top and car port solar PV system as well as reduce environmental emissions. Further investment is set to follow over the next few years both expanding base production capacity as well as renewing the building infrastructure. Simon Wilson stated “Sustainability is a key objective for us. We are working closely with customers to increase recycling rates throughout our value chain. Our new solar project should supply more than 10% of our site electricity requirements and reduce our carbon footprint by more than 300 tonnes CO2e per year, and there is scope to expand this going forward”. As well as being impressed by the investment plans and focus on Sustainability, Emma was pleased

to meet a number of employees as they walked through the busy factory, hear about their work and was impressed with the knowledge and passion which she experienced. Emma praised the RENOLIT team and the company’s forward-thinking approach. “Investing in green technologies benefits the environment and strengthens the local economy,” she remarked. The visit concluded with shared optimism for the future as all parties promised to work together and looked forward to seeing the planned projects progress. NEW ENTRANCE DOOR FROM INSPIRATION DOORS AT COASTAL GROUP BRAND CENTRE

Coastal Group has strengthened its commitment to showcasing innovation in external door and window hardware with the addition of a new feature installation at its Brand Centre in Cornwall. Inspiration Doors has generously donated a striking entrance door finished in liquid metal oxidised iron, delivering a distinctive patina effect that highlights the growing market demand for texture and cutting edge design. The handcrafted door provides a new focal point within the Brand Centre, giving visitors the opportunity to experience the relationship between premium front doors and high-performance door furniture. The installation also demonstrates how even the heaviest doors can be lifted and operated with precision-engineered hardware, reinforcing the importance of pairing specialist entranceways with robust, marine-grade components. Loren Jenner, Managing Director at Coastal Group, emphasised the increasing role of sensory experience in product selection: “People love texture – materials that invite interaction and spark curiosity. Our industry is no longer just about performance; it’s about how products feel and how they contribute to an experience. When customers visit the Brand Centre, they don’t just see the hardware; they touch it and feel the engineering. This new door allows us to showcase that connection in a way that is both compelling and meaningful.” The partnership between Coastal Group and Inspiration Doors reflects a shared ambition to continuously raise standards across the door and window sector. As design expectations rise and customers demand more, collaboration between manufacturers is increasingly important.

Bruce Dudman of Inspiration Doors highlighted this shift in homeowner expectations. “Years ago a door handle was a door handle; it was functional. But people now want something a little bit better – more inspirational and tactile. People demand more. They want a door that makes a statement and hardware that enhances the design rather than just operating it.” The oxidised iron finish used on the new door is created through a highly specialised liquid metal application process that results in a varied, natural patina. This approach has grown in popularity among architects and high-end joiners seeking unique, characterful surfaces that cannot be replicated through standard coatings. Mathew Jones, Managing Director at Inspiration Doors, noted the natural fit between the two companies’ product portfolios: “We are both at the pinnacle of our product ranges so it makes sense to work together. Our doors rely on exceptional hardware to perform at their best, and Coastal’s engineered solutions complement what we build perfectly.” The new installation at the Cornwall-based showroom serves as a tangible example of how manufacturers can combine expertise to influence the future of the industry. As sustainability, durability and design-led thinking continue to guide development in external door and window systems, the relationship between structural components and hardware is becoming more integrated than ever. Coastal Group expressed its appreciation. “We want to thank Mathew, Bruce and their team for this stunning piece,” continued Loren. “The addition of the statement door supports the Brand Centre’s mission to give joiners, installers and architects a

space where they can interact with products in a real-world context. It also helps home owners make informed decisions and is sure to inspire future projects.”

The new installation is available to view at the Coastal Group Brand Centre in Cornwall.

ALLAN PRICE RETIRES

Hardware specialist VBH has announced that Allan Price, the company’s General Manager for Scotland & Northern Ireland, has decided to take retirement in December. Allan joined VBH in January 1989, with responsibility for customers in the West of Scotland and in Northern Ireland. His dry wit and straight-talking style soon endeared him to his new customers, and as time progressed, he built up an impressive technical knowledge surrounding windows and doors and, of course, the hardware required to open, close, and lock them. With tilt and turn windows so popular in Scotland, Allan quickly became one of VBH’s TBT hardware specialists, particularly on the Roto and, more recently, AGB brands. In addition to his sales duties, Allan also manages the activities at VBH’s depot in East Kilbride, where he has assembled over the years what VBH describes as a top team of people who provide

excellent service to East Kilbride’s customers.

Allan hands over the role of General Manager – Scotland & Northern Ireland to Pamela Paterson, who is also a VBH long-server with 24 years’ service to her name. Victoria Woods, who joined VBH in 2024 in the position of Regional Sales Manager as part of Allan’s succession plan, takes over the main sales activities in Scotland. George Stirling, VBH’s External Technical Sales Engineer based in the central belt, is ideally placed to provide practical technical support for the company’s customers. VBH advise that, during his 37 years at the company, Allan has become well respected and loved by his friends and colleagues at VBH and throughout the industry at large. The entire VBH team wishes him the very best for a long, fun, and healthy retirement.

VBH EXPANDS TECHNICAL SUPPORT NETWORK

Hardware specialist VBH has announced an expansion to its customer facing technical support team. George Stirling has joined the company in the new position of External Technical Sales Engineer, with responsibility for on-site technical support for VBH customers in both Scotland and the northern counties of England. With 33 years industry experience, George is no stranger to hardware and the technicalities of windows and doors. Previous roles have included both PVCu and aluminium fabrication, remedial/ service engineer, hardware and profile purchasing, and a stint at the sharp end as a door and window salesperson. During his time as a factory manager, George dealt with VBH as they were a major hardware supplier to his company. He says, “Having done business with VBH for a number of years I am aware that the company is well respected within the industry. The products that I used were of excellent quality and the service that we received was second to none.

These factors made the decision to join VBH an easy one.”

Rob Norman, Technical Director of VBH adds, “We knew George from his time as a customer, so when we decided to create this new technical position in Scotland, his name was at the top of our list. “His role is to support our customers with product demonstrations, help with test sample preparation and offer general support as required. His technical knowledge, versatility and easy-going personality make him ideal for that job, and we also know that he will slot straight in with the rest of the VBH team.” George lives in Scotland’s central belt, so is ideally placed to reach VBH’s customers who deal with the company’s East Kilbride distribution site.

NOISE POLLUTION DATA POINTS TO NEED FOR HIGH-QUALITY WINDOW FRAMES

Following the European Environment Agency’s latest noise pollution report, REHAU has called attention to the importance of windows that offer strong acoustic performance when specifying for retrofit and new-build residential projects. The report, Environmental noise in Europe 2025, reveals that over 20% of Europeans are exposed to harmful levels of transport noise, with road traffic identified as the primary source.1 As the document states, long-term exposure is linked to cardiovascular disease, sleep disturbance, and reduced cognitive performance in children, making noise pollution a public health issue as well as a planning concern. Here, REHAU UK CEO Martin Hitchin has highlighted the role that high-performance windows can play in reducing external noise in homes. He said: “In many regards, windows are the make- or-break component when it comes to keeping out noise. Factors such as the type of glazing specified, the quality of the frame, and how well it has been fitted can be the difference between a good night’s sleep and a restless one.

housing developments, which are often situated in urban areas where there is more noise, and many vulnerable people occupying them. Here, windows have a key role to play in ensuring that transport noise levels do not impact tenants’ long-term health.” Progress towards this goal can already be seen in the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund, which has allocated £1.29bn to modernise properties in line with the nation’s net zero targets.2 This includes upgrades such as high-performance windows, insulation, and heat pumps. Recent projects across the UK have demonstrated what is possible when noise mitigation is built into the design process alongside these decarbonisation aims. For example, in County Durham, homes near a main road and industrial estate were fitted with acoustic glazing and sound-attenuated trickle vents, reducing internal noise levels by up to 40dB.3 In a separate commercial-to-residential conversion near Heathrow Airport, developers met a strict 41dB acoustic rating through careful collaboration with suppliers and fabricators.4

“This can be a particular challenge for social

Martin concludes: “Windows are obviously vital

to all residential properties but they can be significant sources of heat loss and a major way that external noise enters a home. However, with informed specification practices, fenestration professionals can identify cost-effective solutions that can significantly impact both a building’s overall energy efficiency and acoustic performance. “Whether upgrading social housing or building new residential properties, third- party expertise is key to noise reduction for current and future homes. Retrofitting also offers great potential for future public and private housing, and fenestration professionals that leverage supply chain knowledge will stay ahead of the curve as building work intensifies in line with elevated residential construction targets.”

SHEERLINE ANNOUNCES WORLD CLASS OTIF FOR 2025

The team at Sheerline are once again celebrating, but this time they haven’t won an award, they’ve maintained their impressive OTIF of 99.4% across the whole year. To demonstrate that this isn’t by accident, but the result of production efficiencies, strategic planning, and strong internal communications, the team have been sharing regular OTIF updates with customers, through adverts, in articles, and via social media. While this has obviously been a great topic to talk about, it has more importantly provided tangible benefits for Sheerline’s customers. Aside from giving them the visibility to accurately plan their production schedules, they know exactly what they’re getting and when it will arrive, giving them the knowledge that they’ll deliver on their

promises for their customers.

Sheerline’s Technical Production Director, Ross Hartshorn, commented: “Over the past 12 months we’ve not only increased our OTIF, but we’ve maintained it – even achieving an OTIF of 100% for a period. Anyone who works in manufacturing knows what an achievement this is.” “It’s the result of changes we’ve made to our machinery, our processes, and internal training to ensure our production teams are working as harmoniously as they possibly can be. It’s clear this approach is working, but we’re always looking for ways to improve,” he added. To make 2026 your best year yet, switch to Sheerline by contacting the team directly on 01332 978 000 or email info@sheerline.com.

Maybe our best innovation... 5 Day Deliveries Unbelievably good? Well listen to what our customers say...

“As a customer-focused company, we carefully choose our supply partners because we need the full package. More than just quality products, we need a service we can rely on, and with Sheerline we get that – the 5-day deliveries they offer have strengthened our operations.” - Stuart Bull, Sales Director, SGM Windows “Customers don’t want to wait weeks or even months for their new windows and doors – they expect a responsive service. Working with Sheerline means we can meet and exceed those expectations, which ultimately results in happy customers.” - Joe Thomas, Managing Director, Southport Glass

“When 5 days actually means 5 days, it’s a great weight off your mind. No more hollow promises like our previous aluminium supplier, where 3 weeks actually meant 6-8 weeks.” - Andy McCord, Managing Director, Windowise

“5-day deliveries mean we hold less stock and when we have to reorder something, it’ll turn up next week.” - Stever Gardiner, Managing Director, Listers

SHEERLINE SPECIFIED FOR SENSITIVE UPDATE TO HISTORIC GATEHOUSE

The original gatehouse of Whinney House in Low Fell has received an upgrade thanks to an installation completed by Bison Doors. The project has won Sheerline’s Installation of the Month competition for September as it highlights what can be achieved for heritage properties. As a listed building, a sensitive renovation that enabled the property to retain its character and charm was key. Although the existing timber windows had to be replaced like for like, permission was granted to install aluminium doors. Adding the Prestige Bi-fold Door instead of replacing the existing window allowed Bison Doors to create a bright, airy space, flooded with natural sunlight. The existing timber French Doors also weren’t up to standard anymore. They were replaced with Sheerline’s Prestige French Doors featuring the InvisiHinge from Ingenious, which created a flush finish in keeping with the overall aesthetic of the property. It’s these aesthetic qualities that have made it the hinge of choice for the

company.

Bison Doors became a Sheerline fabricator when the Classic Heritage Door was launched as they frequently received enquiries for this style of product. Since then, they’ve added Classic windows, Prestige windows and doors including bi-folds, plus the S1 and S2 to their range.

Bryce Morgan, Bison Door’s Manager, said: “We had a discerning customer approach us with a project requiring something a little different, after visiting the property it became clear that the product needed was that of the Sheerline Prestige system and in particular the use of the new InvisiHinge.” “The old stone-built Gatehouse benefitted from the high-performance Prestige system in both Bifold and French Door options. It was a great job to be involved with and to top it off we won installer of the month, which is something that is never in the forefront of your mind when undertaking jobs as the focus is always on customer satisfaction, but it does fill you with pride knowing Sheerline also appreciate the

final turnout,” he added.

Sheerline’s Area Sales Director (North), Howard Hirst, commented: “It’s great to see Bison Doors win Installation of the Month – and with a stunning project no less! Seeing our products used on heritage and listed properties highlights our versatility, particularly as homeowners are increasingly looking for alternatives when it’s time to replace timber frames.” To speak to the team at Bison Doors, contact them on 0191 477 6600 or email info@bisondoors.co.uk. New year, new supplier? If you’re thinking of becoming a Sheerline fabricator, get in touch with the team by emailing: info@sheerline. com or call 01332 978 000.

GARNALEX WELCOMES HIS MAJESTY’S LORD-LIEUTENANT OF DERBYSHIRE FOR KING’S AWARD PRESENTATION

The team at Garnalex are celebrating at the company’s HQ in Nether Heage, Derbyshire, after being formally presented with a King’s Award for Innovation 2025. Garnalex announced earlier in the year that it had been awarded the prestigious accolade in recognition of two aspects of the Sheerline system. First, the patented corner construction method, which reduces waste and misalignment while locking in quality. The second aspect is Sheerline’s proprietary Thermlock® technology, which was developed in-house as an alternative to outdated polyamide solutions. It is unique to the Sheerline system, enabling it to offer straightforward thermal efficiency through high-performance U-values and therefore, easy Part L compliance. Garnalex CEO, Roger Hartshorn, was presented with the award by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Derbyshire, Elizabeth Fothergill CBE, who was joined by the Chair of the Derbyshire King’s Awards for Enterprise (KAE) Panel, Marvin Cooke OBE DL. After the presentation, there was an opportunity for members of the team and invited guests to meet with the Lieutenancy party before they had a tour of Garnalex’s state-of-the-art manufacturing site. This included the energy efficient SMS HybrEx 35 press and in-house powder-coating facility. The day recognises not only what Sheerline has achieved since its launch, but the day-to-day wins that come from team work, strong communications, and production efficiencies. Roger Hartshorn said: “From initially finding out we’d won, to attending a reception at Windsor Castle and getting to know the other winners in Derbyshire and then hosting a formal presentation day – it’s been a fantastic experience. And one that I would highly recommend to other business leaders in the region.” “For us, it provides an opportunity to standout in an historically competitive market where innovation is an essential requirement to stay ahead. It’s been a great opportunity to reflect on how far we’ve

come since launching during the pandemic, and importantly, we’re recognising and celebrating the hard work of all our employees,” he added. His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant said “The King’s Awards for Enterprise are considered to be the highest accolade to be bestowed upon a UK business, the most prestigious award, a symbol of excellence and perseverance. Increasingly relevant and with a higher profile than ever before, any business with a King’s Award is guaranteed to receive a warm welcome at home and overseas. It says so much about the calibre and standing of the company, its dealings with its staff, customers, stakeholders and its community engagement. It is only awarded to companies that have shown outstanding achievement, and it showcases their innovations, ideas and achievements to a global audience. “ The Award programme, now in its 59th year, is the most prestigious business award in the country, with successful businesses able to use the esteemed King’s Awards Emblem for the next five years. SHEERLINE LANDS QUITE THE CATCH AS MARLIN WINDOWS BECOMES NEW FABRICATOR

Marlin Windows has become one of the latest fabricators to start supplying Sheerline’s innovative range of aluminium windows, doors and roof-related products. The Keighley-based family-run company wanted to expand its product range to give customers more choice and greater flexibility. Adrian Martin, Marlin’s Managing Director, said: “Marlin chose Sheerline because of the impressive range of innovative aluminium glazing products, and with the added benefit of being easier to fabricate, this ultimately makes the Sheerline system a more cost-effective solution for our customers.” This cost-efficiency is the result of Sheerline’s clever system designs. The modular components require less machining and are easier to assemble, plus the shared profiles reduce inventory and the need for stockholding. But these aren’t the only benefits that appealed to the team at Marlin Windows: “What we’re most excited about is the innovative up-to-date products that are fully developed to easily cope with the latest thermal, ventilation, and security compliance challenges.” “Plus, the fact Sheerline actively works on continued improvements to further enhance the systems and fabricating methods, and it’s a friendly, forward- thinking company that is easily accessible at all times,” he added. The company is currently supplying the full Sheerline range including Classic, Prestige, the S1 Roof Lantern, and the latest Flat Roof System from Sheerline Bespoke. Adrian explained: “We chose these products as they fit perfectly with the many requests we receive from customers who require cutting-edge thermal performance together with unmatched aesthetic appeal.” Marlin Windows is committed to adding new innovations as and when they’re launched, including the S3, for which the company is an official launch partner. Adrian said: “We are currently developing our showroom to build an S3 structure that will be approximately 6m wide with a 4m projection – it’ll be large and almost at the maximum size it can currently be made to!” At its base in Keighley, West Yorkshire, Marlin Windows has a modern showroom designed to

provide an immersive experience so homeowners can understand what can be realistically achieved with aluminium glazing systems. The company prides itself on offering tailored support to every customer as they do not employ salespeople – all visitors are looked after by an experienced technical advisor who can fully understand the project requirements. When asked to sum up his experience of Sheerline so far, Adrian said: “Sheerline are genuinely interested in what they do, and they do it extremely well. It has been a great start and we are building on this to ultimately provide our valued customers with even more choice and also to enhance the visitor experience in our newly developed showroom.” Howard Hirst, Sheerline Area Sales Director (North), said: “It’s great news Marlin Windows have decided to join Sheerline! Aside from sharing the same core values, we’re impressed by the calibre of projects the team consistently work on around the whole of the UK. This collaboration will provide a real opportunity to highlight how versatile our award-winning products are.” To speak to the Sheerline team about becoming a fabricator, call 01332 978000 or email info@sheerline. com. FDM TAKES TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE OF THE YEAR AT G25 AWARDS

FDM by UAP Ltd has won Training and Development Initiative of the Year at the G25 Awards, recognising its practical, lifecycle-based approach to raising competence and accountability across the fire door industry. Established in 2004, the G Awards recognise innovation, technical excellence and outstanding performance across the UK glass and glazing sector. The G25 win follows FDM’s consecutive Training Company of the Year title at the 2025 National Fenestration Awards and a London Construction Awards win earlier this year. Together, these three awards reflect recognition from across the built environment - glazing, fenestration and construction - and underline the difference FDM is making industry-wide. Launched in 2024 as the UK’s first hands-on training academy dedicated solely to fire doors, FDM has trained more than 1,200 professionals in 18 months and holds GQA accreditation and CITB approval. FDM’s influence extends beyond the classroom. In 2025 it convened a national roundtable on fire door competence chaired by Dame Judith Hackitt, who

described FDM as “an exemplar of good practice.” Insights from the event shaped FDM’s report, Raising Standards in the Fire Door Industry, adding weight to calls for practical competence at every stage of the fire door lifecycle. Nicola John, Managing Director at FDM by UAP Ltd, said: “This award recognises what matters most- practical competence that keeps people safe. Our approach is hands-on, rigorous and inclusive of every role in the golden thread, from procurement and installation to inspection and maintenance. SUPPLY2TRADE POWERS AHEAD WITH G-AWARDS WIN AND SIXTH BRANCH EXPANSION

“Winning Best Business Initiative for SupplyNet is a proud moment for our entire team and a clear example of how in-house innovation can drive real business transformation.” We are incredibly proud to have been named Best Business Initiative at the G-Awards for our work on SupplyNet, our in-house developed business management portal designed to streamline operations and connect every element of our business. Built entirely by our internal IT team, SupplyNet integrates accounts management, CRM, quotation-to-invoice workflows, sales reporting, order processing, a built-in calendar system, and live notifications into one powerful, cloud-based platform. The system also allows customers to view in-store promotions, while being fully accessible via both a desktop version and a dedicated mobile app available on the App Store.

Prior to SupplyNet’s launch, our branches operated independently with disconnected processes. Today, all five branches now work in complete alignment, with real-time visibility across sales, accounts, and supplier activity. The system has transformed the way we operate. By automating routine tasks, improving accuracy, and providing management with meaningful, real-time data, SupplyNet has reduced paperwork, increased efficiency, and empowered our teams to deliver an even higher level of service to our customers. Winning Best Business Initiative of the Year is a tremendous recognition of the innovation and dedication that went into the development of SupplyNet. It also highlights the powerful impact that in-house technology can have on driving real business transformation.

As we look ahead, the beginning of 2026 marks

another major milestone for Supply2Trade with the opening of our sixth branch at Battlefield Enterprise Park on 5th January 2026. Since we began trading in 2019, we have grown to establish thriving branches in Stoke, Chester, Telford, Northwich, and Bury, with Shrewsbury soon to follow. Our main depot remains based in Cobridge, Stoke-on-Trent. We are a dedicated supplier of uPVC and aluminium windows, doors, glass, conservatories, and building plastics. Each of our branches features a Window Centre and Building Plastics trade counter, stocking

a wide range of tools, consumables, fascias and guttering, rubber roofing, and much more. We pride ourselves on delivering excellent customer service, a truly personal approach, and offering a wide range of trusted brands to support our customers’ projects. We were also thrilled to be nominated for Trade Counter of the Year at the recent NFA Awards, further recognising the hard work and commitment of our teams across the business. Finally, we would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank our team at Supply2Trade, along with our customers and suppliers, whose continued support makes our success possible. Bristol Window Company Wins Major National Award Following Year of Unprecedented Industry Success Bristol-based window company, The Window Hub, has won a major national award after being judged the best by its peers in the glass and glazing industry, solidifying a year of unparalleled recognition that included significant wins at the National Fenestration Awards. With a head office in Staple Hill in Bristol, The Window Hub won Installer of the Year at the prestigious G-Awards, an annual glittering event which recognises and awards the best window, glass, and door companies in the UK. This high-profile win caps off an exceptional year of industry accolades, following a major success earlier in the year at the National Fenestration Awards. The Window Hub welcomed judges from respected

inspections and auditing body Risa earlier in the year, who compared entries from dozens of window companies from across the British Isles. “You don’t get direct feedback from a Risa inspector,” Managing Director Danny Robb explained. “But hopefully, they saw a genuine, decent company that was doing the right thing, not only by the people that work in the business, but also for the customers. “We’ve got a ‘Treating Customers Fairly’ policy, to make sure that we do the right thing for our customers, from when they first speak to us all the way through the process to when we leave them with a Fensa certificate after the installation. And I’m hopeful that that’s what shone through during the judging process.” Recognition by the Industry at the National Fenestration Awards

The G-Awards success comes just weeks after The Window Hub was celebrated by its peers at the National Fenestration Awards (NFAs), where the awards are decided completely by the participation and votes of the industry itself. At the NFAs, two of The Window Hub’s dedicated employees secured top honours, signalling the company’s commitment to nurturing talent and professionalism across the board. Adam Smith was voted Office Manager of the Year, while Bradley Barber was named Young Person of the Year. The company extended a huge thank you to everyone who voted for them, underscoring the value of this direct industry recognition. Danny said Window Hub has very strict guidelines that its employees must follow to ensure the

And if they are asked not to return, they must inform their Team Leader immediately, so Head Office can make a record and send out a ‘no knocking sticker’ so all canvassers know never to return. “Our sales team also have specialist training on being aware of vulnerable homeowners, so that everyone can make an informed decision. Sales begin and end with treating customers properly.” The Window Hub also has a tree-planting programme as part of a comprehensive sustainability programme, and the company is heavily involved in local charities including youth sports teams and hospices.

customers are always looked after. This includes an ethical sales policy which, in addition to following legal obligations, includes a ‘canvassing etiquette’ which all salespeople must read, sign, and stick to. “It really isn’t rocket science,” Danny said. “But we make sure our employees close gates behind them, 90% of reviews for The Window Hub on Trustpilot are for five stars, with customers celebrating the company’s professionalism, friendliness, tidiness, and attention to detail.
