CELEBRATING

OF THE MARGARET M. WALTER WING

Dear Friends,

Art Celebration 2025 , taking place on Friday, October 17, marks a significant milestone for the Columbus Museum of Art: the 10-year anniversary of the Margaret M. Walter Wing . As we reflect on a decade of transformation, we also look ahead, with ambition and optimism, to what comes next. When the Walter Wing opened in 2015, it represented a bold step forward for both CMA and the city of Columbus. The addition of 50,000 square feet gave us the space to grow, enabling us to present more ambitious exhibitions, host dynamic public programs, and welcome a rapidly expanding audience. In the years that followed, attendance nearly doubled, and CMA emerged as a museum of national relevance, better equipped to serve our community and engage the world. But the true impact of the Walter Wing extends beyond square footage or visitor numbers. Its design, filled with natural light and architectural openness, reshaped how people experience the museum. It became a gathering place, an invitation to connect, and a symbol of CMA’s commitment to accessibility, inclusion, and civic engagement.

Now, as Columbus continues to grow and gain greater national recognition, CMA is once again poised to meet the moment. The museum’s next chapter will require the same kind of vision that fueled the Walter Wing expansion, anchored in the belief that art can inspire, connect, and shape the life of a city. As we launch a new strategic plan, CMA proudly steps into its role as a premier civic museum by expanding access, presenting timely exhibitions, and creating opportunities for dialogue and discovery that reflect and serve the needs of our changing community. This work is not done alone. It depends on partnerships, advocacy, and leadership that champions creativity as a civic priority. That’s why we’re proud to honor Tom Katzenmeyer , President and CEO of the Greater Columbus Arts Council, at this year’s celebration. Tom’s leadership has shaped the cultural landscape of Columbus in lasting ways, from advancing public funding for the arts to supporting local artists and organizations. His vision and impact can be seen across our entire creative ecosystem. We invite you to join us as a sponsor of the 2025 Art Celebration . Your support helps CMA continue to thrive — not only as a museum, but as a vital cultural resource for Columbus. Thank you for considering this opportunity to celebrate a decade of progress and to invest in the exciting future ahead.

With heartfelt appreciation,

ART CELEBRATION HONOREE

Tom Katzenmeyer exemplifies CMA’s mission to provide great experiences with great art for everyone. As the retiring President and CEO of the Greater Columbus Arts Council (GCAC), Tom has led the organization in expanding public support for the arts, championing local artists, and strengthening Columbus’ creative infrastructure. Under his leadership, GCAC has become a driving force in making the arts more accessible and visible throughout the region. Tom’s work has had a lasting impact on the Columbus Museum of Art and the wider arts ecosystem, from increased funding and advocacy to direct partnerships like the Greater Columbus Visual Arts Awards , presented bi-annually at CMA to celebrate and elevate the work of local artists. Before joining GCAC in 2013, Tom held senior leadership roles in both higher education and the private sector, including at The Ohio State University and L Brands. His earlier career in public service included nearly 15 years in state government, where he advanced economic and cultural development efforts for Ohio. While Tom will be deeply missed at the helm of GCAC, his commitment to Central Ohio remains strong. Currently, he is President of the Columbus Metropolitan Library Board and is an original board member of RAPID 5, a vision for five amazing greenway corridors in Central Ohio. He also serves on the board of Campus Partners for Urban Redevelopment.

Tom couldn’t have achieved all he has without the love and support of his family, including his amazing wife Mary, his son Patrick Katzenmeyer and Patrick’s wife Liz Brown, his daughter Anne Martucci and her husband Danny Martucci, and his six wonderful grandkids: Carolyn, Russell, Maribell, Mary Claire, Evelyn Grace, and Meyer Thomas. Tom’s vision and dedication, rooted in his extensive experience and deep community ties, have laid a strong foundation for the future of arts and culture in our city, and his legacy will continue to inspire and uplift us for years to come. Join us in celebrating Tom—a true champion for the arts in Central Ohio.
