W ith all the talk about The PGA Tour and LIV Golf it was time for the “real golfers” to hit the hallowed fairways and greens of Royal Belfast as Beggs and Partners held its first golf day since the pandemic hit in 2019. The weather did not disappoint with the sun shining
place went to Darren McCurry with 39 and third place was Jonny Warnock with 38 points, which was settled by a countback after three players tied with 38 points. Gerry Donnelly whose humorous wit and stories kept everyone in a jovial mood supplied entertainment on the night. He admitted there are not many places he speaks where he leaves with an abundance of knowledge about pumps. Gerry renewed an old friendship with Mr Norman Beggs, who also happened to be the staff prize winner on the day with 40 points. on more than 80 golfers consisting of customers,
suppliers and staff during the balmy afternoon competition. As tee-time approached all talk was about the speed of greens (now that’s a surprise) and they did not let the golfers down, yet again playing havoc all afternoon. As the final scores started being entered into the computer it became evident quite early that high scores were going to be the norm and that prizes would be determined by the smallest of margins. Once scores were verified the overall winner was Garry Baxter with 40 points playing off 9. Second
