T H E K I N G ' S B U S I N E S S believe th a t the Second Coming is a sp iritual coming. I have tried to find out whether or not any of these had a longing desire th a t the Lord Himself m ight come in th e body,' and visibly; and as far as I could make out, none of them had this arden t desire. Of course my experience is very lim ited, bu t it constrains me to ask in all sincerity, Is it not possible th a t those who say they do not th ink He is com ing personally, do so because they are not altogether prepared to welcome Him otherw ise th an spiritually? He went from this ea rth w ith uplifted hands—hands, th e p rin t of the nails in which He had invited Thomas to exam ine; and this same Jesu s shall so come in like m anner (John 20:29; Luke 24: 50, 51; ■Acts 1 :1 1 ). Even so, Come, Lord Jesus (Revelation 2 2 :20 ).

Jesus Himself stood in th e m idst of the g ath ered saints later, and went to much pains to prove th a t th e appearance was not a sp irit but I Myself. Now I. Thessalonians 4:16' tells us th a t the Coming there referred to is the Coming of th e Lord Himself, and in John 14, He tells His disciples, “ 1 will come again and receive you un to My self,” so by applying th e logic He tau g h t His disciples in Luke 24:39 we learn th a t He is coming in bodily presence and not as a spirit.
