T H E K I N G ’S B U S I N E S S th e ir aerial, stretched between two tall trees, drinks in the message from out of the ether. Another communication will call to the m ind a picture of sick and broken patients in a hospital receiving th e word of cheer and th e sacred music of the choir. Or possibly it m ight he an ihvalid in a private home. Or again, of miners and th eir fam ilies in a d istant mining camp. F rom Ocean’s Expanse And then, the scrawling w riting oi still another le tte r will w aft the reader to some vessel isolated in th e darkness of the Pacific’s tu rbu len t expanse. Not a few salt-seasoned sons of the sea have been greeted upon th e ir ship’s arrival a t Los Angeles H arbor by members of the Bible In stitu te ’s Seaman Service, and expressed th e ir appreciation of the broadcast religious programs. And out of th e crowd th e re is frequently .found one sailor w ithin whom th e services reached a point deeper th an the others. Every Sunday the blue uniform s of men of th e American Navy can be seen among th e church’s congregation. Many of these sailors explain th e ir presence/ there by saying they were attracted by the services they had heard while a t sea. “I have learned much about, what goes on beneath th e rough appearing surface of' many of th e men of our Navy,” said Dr. Torrey, “and I have learned it in recent months, since they have spoken to me following th e radio service. ' Appreciates Opportunity “ It makes me happy to be in a posi tion to reach them even “while they may be tossing about on the surface of the ocean. I t is a wonderful inspiration to any man to know th a t his words, while he preaches before a large congregation in a church, are a t the same tim e reach ing the h earts of a hidden congregation spreading out over mountains and ocean and plains for a radius of many h u n \ dreds of miles. Can’t you feel what a tremendous inspiration th a t would create in a preacher of the Gospel?” His liste n e r though t he could. And now th e Bible In stitu te is having installed a much more powerful radio tran sm itting station., Its power will be 1000 watts, and it is expected to be com pleted by the end of the week. W ith this new station, th e church services are ex pected to he tran sm itted to th e in sti tu te ’s m issionaries in Honolulu, the West Indies, C entral America and th roughout all parts of th e United

States. iFor while the “h e a rt” of the in stitu te is here in Los Angeles, it has members or m issionaries in many coun tries of the world. Many of these will now be connected to the “h e a rt” by radioactive nerves, which will pulsate with courage and inspiration sent out from the Church of the Open Door. Mere man meditates upon it' all, and his, mind involuntarily spans 1900 years— “This is My Beloved Son: H ear ye H im .” I ifc m m SHALL WE SEND IT? We could fill our columns each month w ith letters of grateful appreciation th a t come to us from m issionaries who re ceive The K ing’s Business through funds furnished us by subscribers.
