HAND TOOLS
AS THE FIRST FULL-TIME SALES REPRESENTATIVE DEDICATED TO NORTHERN IRELAND, DARGAN TOOLS AREA ACCOUNT MANAGER JONNY RITCHIE OUTLINES HIS PLANS FOR THE REGION… Servicing a growing hand-tool market
When did you join Dargan Tools and what does your role entail? I joined Dargan Tools a little over a year ago. My role is to introduce and expand the Dargan Tools range across hardware stores throughout Northern Ireland. Although Dargan Tools has always done some business in the north, I’m the first full- time sales representative dedicated to the region. Having a permanent presence here means we can better support customers, strengthen relationships and properly service the growing hand-tool market in Northern Ireland. Tell us about your customer base Dargan Tools has been supplying the Irish market for over 40 years and, over that time, we’ve built a reputation as a trusted, reliable brand among tradespeople and retailers alike. Our customer base stretches across the entire country, and we work closely with all the major builders’ merchants and hardware stores in Ireland. That long- standing presence has helped us develop strong relationships with our partners and ensure that the Dargan Tools’ range is known for quality, consistency and value. What are Dargan Tools’ most popular products & new lines? Dargan Tools now offers more than 2,000 quality, own-brand products covering everything from measuring tapes, hammers and vise grips to builders’ lines, knives, trowels and much more. Our range is designed to meet the needs of tradespeople across every sector, and many of these core hand tools remain firm favourites with our customers. Recently, we’ve expanded our offering with a new and improved range of plumbing tools, as well as the launch of our Dargan 18V Power Tool range, which has generated a lot of excitement in the market. Alongside our own brand, we also distribute a number of well-known and respected manufacturers who trust Dargan Tools as a strong route into the Irish market. These include BIHUI, Genesis Trims, NELA, Ragni, Refina and Bulldozer.

Have you any development plans for the market here? Northern Ireland represents a major growth opportunity for Dargan Tools, and we’re only at the beginning of what we believe will be a significant expansion. The response we’ve received since putting a full-time rep on the ground has been exceptional, and it has confirmed our belief that the market is ready for a strong, service-driven tool brand like ours. Our plan is to dramatically increase our presence across the region, strengthening partnerships with existing customers, opening new doors with builders’ merchants and hardware stores and showcasing the depth of the Dargan range to a wider audience. We’re investing heavily in brand awareness, product demonstrations and customer
support to ensure Dargan Tools becomes a leading name in the Northern construction and hardware sector. We’re here for the long haul, and we see enormous potential for further growth and innovation in the north. What are your interests outside of work? Being from Northern Ireland, with so many fantastic golf courses on our doorstep, it’s hard not to be into golf; I try to get out and play as often as I can. I’m also a big rugby fan, so whenever I’m not on the course or on the road, you’ll usually find me keeping up with the latest matches.
