FITTED FURNITURE GLAZED SCREENS A wide selection of fitted furniture was supplied to the project by Belfast-based CRB Specialist Joinery Ltd. Low, medium and high-level display cabinets, inspection room cupboards, worktops and noticeboards were provided for the Optometry Clinic, alongside computer benching comprising bespoke metal Steel internal screens with EI30 and EI60 fire ratings were supplied to the new UU Optometry Clinic by D7 Ltd’s glazing division. The project stands out for the company as one of its first steel fire-rated installations completed in partnership with new supplier Forster Profile Systems.

For the laboratories, CRB supplied units comprising bespoke metal frames with Trespa TopLab Base worktops for both perimeter and island benching, with the island benching also featuring integrated cabinetry and DDA accessible desks. Further laboratory items included shelving, an IPS handwash station, tea station and timber wall panelling. CRB coordinated with other subcontractors on site and adopted phased installation to ensure the project ran smoothly. Ross Beattie, Senior Contract Manager, says, “This was CRB’s first project with Bell Contracts, which proved to be a successful one, and was highly collaborative from start to finish. From the initial engagement with their commercial team to the final stages of installation on site, the entire process was a positive experience, founded on excellent communication and a shared commitment to quality.”
Scott Montgomery, Estimator at D7 Ltd, says, “Using our vast supply chain, we were able to source products to allow us to fulfil the architect’s vision. “We worked alongside Bell Contracts to ensure the surrounding structure was adequate to meet strict requirements for the fire- rated glazed screens. “Due to the specialist nature of the product being installed, it was vital that the surrounding structure matched what Forster Systems had tested during the development stage of their system. Alongside this, D7 had to ensure that timelines were met so there was no delay in handing over the project to the client.” D7 offers a supply-and-fit service for aluminium and steel curtain walling, windows and doors. Aluminium and steel products are offered in both non-fire-rated and fire-rated solutions to help accommodate architects’ glazing needs for projects.
