ULSTER UNIVERSITY OPTOMETRY CLINIC, COLERAINE PROJECT PROFILE
COMMISSIONING MANAGEMENT Infinite Management Services Ltd was appointed to provide independent commissioning management, ensuring both building and non-building service elements met design requirements and were operationally ready for handover. John McCorry, Director, says, “We also ensured that all staff and facilities management personnel were trained in the safe operation of the new building services systems by managing a comprehensive familiarisation and demonstration period in the final weeks approaching completion. This ensured that the UU team could take possession of the building and effectively maintain the building services systems from the day of handover.” Project challenges included minimising disruption to live parts of the campus during the functional performance testing of building services systems. To keep the timeline on track, many key commissioning activities had to be undertaken during exam time, avoiding any noise or disruption of existing systems. “Bell Contracts fully embraced the commissioning process from the start of this scheme and supported us with attendance and input throughout,” says John. “They engaged Infinite during their early planning works, allowing us to ensure that detailed commissioning plans and programmes were in place.”
WALLS & CEILINGS PACKAGE ROCS Contracts was commissioned to supply and fit a walls and ceilings package for the new Ulster University Optometry Clinic in Coleraine. As a small dry lining outfit based in Claudy, Co Londonderry, Rocs Contracts was thrilled to be involved in delivering a high-quality finish for this specialist facility. Ceilings were a key standout feature of the project design, with many different ceiling types sourced for various spaces in the clinic. ROCS Contracts worked in partnership with Saint-Gobain Ecophon Project Specification Manager Davina Bradley and Charles Tennant & Co (NI) Ltd Branch Manager Scot McNeilly to deliver functional and aesthetic ceilings meeting the design specification. Peter Murphy, Director, says, “While this job proved challenging at times, it is great to look back on it now and to have been a small part of it.” ROCS Contracts supplies and installs metal stud, dry lining and metal frame, grid and S&S ceilings in new builds and renovation projects including residential homes and commercial properties.
