OMAGH DIGI-HUB PROJECT PROFILE
WOODVALE CONSTRUCTION COMPANY HAS TRANSFORMED AN OLD HEALTH CENTRE INTO A MODERN, FLEXIBLE WORKSPACE FEATURING 58 WORK UNITS AND SHARED FACILITIES… NEW DIGI-HUB SUPPORTS ENTERPRISE & INNOVATION IN OMAGH
A £5m project supported by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council and the Levelling Up Fund, Omagh Digi-Hub is a modern, flexible workspace supporting local enterprise development. Aiming to foster economic growth, digital innovation and inclusion, the facility is based at the former Omagh Health Centre on Mountjoy Road. Comprising 58 work units over two floors for entrepreneurs, small businesses and innovation-led enterprises, facilities include flexible multipurpose meeting rooms, breakout spaces with integrated tea points, WCs and storage facilities. Woodvale Construction Company was appointed as main contractor in January 2024, following a competitive tender process, and handed over the project in May 2025. Works entailed partial demolition, reconfiguration, refurbishment and extension of the existing building to create new workspaces with high-quality internal finishes throughout. Upgraded energy-efficient mechanical
and electrical systems and modern BMS controls were installed to optimise building performance, alongside construction of a new permanent pharmacy building, hard and soft landscaping and car parking. Key structural elements were retained and enhanced where possible, such as refreshing and thermally upgrading its existing external brick façades. All windows and external doors were replaced with high-performance, PPC aluminium double-glazed units. Existing ground and first-floor slabs and the primary column grid were retained, while a new roof and curtain walling system were introduced at first-floor level. Due to non-compliance with current fire egress standards, original staircases were demolished and the voids created by their removal repurposed as light wells, delivering daylight to the building’s core and aligning with adjacent breakout areas. New staircases were strategically relocated outside the central zone to optimise
