Research suggests that payroll outsourcing is growing in Europe SD WORX has found that the outsourcing of human resource and payroll functions is increasing in popularity across Europe. Three in five organisations are currently using, or are considering using, a partner to look after their payroll activities. The average number of European companies that either entirely or mainly outsource their payroll has increased from 16% in 2020 to 21% in 2021. In the UK, however, businesses are more likely to want to continue to play a part in payroll processing, with 54.4% stating that they want to be responsible for payroll calculations and making payments themselves. There is also a clear preference for wanting to manage information relating to organisation compliance with UK social and legal legislation, instead of outsourcing this responsibility to a third party.
