CEO REPORT
Hi there everyone.
This combination of product quality and customer focus has generated relationships between our customers, the dealership and Caterpillar that have stood the test of time, and almost a century in a few cases. For Terra, we’re also constantly looking at ways to adapt and develop so that we can keep improving our support levels to our customers. Sure, technology plays a part, but mostly this comes from an amazing team that’s focused on giving its best for our customers every day. Our current focus is to make it easier for our team to do their job efficiently, so that it’s then easier for our customers to do business with Terra. This means changing our way of working and making our business model more efficient, so we can deliver a world-class experience for our customers. This is a journey we’ll continually monitor and adjust as we learn, but we’re committed to providing a support model that’s as modern and efficient as the Cat equipment we sell across the country. If we focus on providing this, we’ll continue this world-class customer-supplier relationship for another century to come.
2025 has been an interesting year so far, not just for Terra Cat, but for every industry we work in. Last year was a difficult one for the entire New Zealand economy, but expectations were high that conditions would improve the following year – we just needed to “survive ‘til 2025”. The economic turnaround hasn’t materialised as quickly as everyone hoped. This year has still been a grind for the key industries we participate in, with construction being particularly slow to gain any meaningful momentum. The first half of this year has also been a year of reflection for us at Terra, as we celebrate 100 years of Caterpillar and 93 years for the Caterpillar dealership in New Zealand. Both are amazing achievements, but what brought it home for me was the huge amount of Cat equipment that rolled into this year’s Wheels at Wa- naka event. It was insightful to witness how much the Caterpillar product has evolved over the past century. We’ve gone from pony engine start to push-button, no cab to ergonomic, air-conditioned, ROPS cabs, and eyesight-calculated grade control to full 3D semi-autonomous grade control. More importantly, Wheels at Wa- naka provided me the opportunity to have hundreds of conversations with customers and staff, both past and present. These discussions made me realise that the broad needs of our customers haven’t really changed over the years – they still want quality Cat equipment that delivers day-in, day-out, backed with the support of a high-performing dealership.

SIME AND CATERPILLAR EXECUTIVES VISIT CHRISTCHURCH’S NEW FACILITIES
Earlier this year, our Christchurch branch, distribution centre and support office teams moved from their home of five decades in Hornby to purpose-built premises in Islington. Located just three kilometres northwest of the old site, the Waterloo Business Park development provides a state-of-the-art working environment for over 300 Terra Cat and Sime Motors New Zealand employees. In celebration of this, we recently welcomed senior executives from Sime and Caterpillar to Christchurch for an official opening of the new facilities. The visiting delegation included (pictured from left) Brendon Davis, Muhammad Noor, Chris Heaton, Sam Vedhakumar, Jeffri Davidson, Pat McKenna, Mark Scott and Grant Whitelaw.
The day commenced at the shared support office, where Sime Group Chief Executive Officer Jeffri Davidson and Sime Motors Managing Director Pat McKenna delivered brief business updates to Terra and Sime Motors staff, followed by a plaque unveiling and a catered morning tea. That evening the visiting delegation returned to the new site, this time joined by Christchurch operations staff and a host of our most loyal Canterbury customers. As Dato’ Jeffri Davidson told the group, this is a significant milestone in Sime’s ongoing programme of growth and investment in New Zealand – and a great example of what can be achieved through collaboration. If you haven’t visited us yet, we look forward to welcoming you to 22 Innovation Road, Islington.

CELEBRATING 100 YEARS OF CATERPILLAR AT WHEELS AT WĀNAKA BIGGER IS
Terra Cat’s presence at Wheels at Wa- naka 2025 hit new heights as the business celebrated the centenary anniversary of Caterpillar, hosted the inaugural New Zealand Cat Global Operator Challenge, and helped organise a new world record. All of this was set against a backdrop of showcasing the latest technology and machines at what was the final instalment of the iconic event.
It’s one of those wet, dreary Autumn days where the heavy clouds cloak the Central Otago mountains, drown out the sun and paint everything a shade of grey. But at the foot of a barely visible Mt Iron, the land is buzzing with spectators and heavy machinery that have all converged on Wa- naka to give the iconic Wheels at Wa- naka event a final send-off. The Easter weekend held special significance for the Terra Cat team as well, with Caterpillar celebrating its 100-year anniversary just three days prior. Terra Cat CEO Chris Heaton says the stars couldn’t have aligned more perfectly from a timing perspective, creating an ideal opportunity to celebrate all things Caterpillar. “The way the timing aligned with this being the final Wheels at Wa - naka and Caterpillar’s centenary celebrations couldn’t have been scripted any better,” says Chris. “We’ve partnered with the event for the past three instalments and it’s always such a fantastic weekend.”
Run every second year, the large-scale interactive family-orientated event brings together on terra firma a vast array of vehicles and machinery from different disciplines and different eras. “It’s a very different experience to an industry event like the Mystery Creek Fieldays,” he says. “It’s family focused and more like a celebration of machinery that attracts people from across the construction industry. Catching up with all these old acquaintances makes the show so special.” With a total of 65,000 punters pouring through the gates to this year’s Wheels at Wa- naka, the Terra stand was a hive of activity all weekend. The key attractions included the limited edition ‘centenary grey’ Caterpillar D6 dozer – the only one in the country – that was customised especially for the event, the Cat Global Operator Challenge and the always-popular, instantly recognisable Cat merchandise.

S BETTER
“Our staff were run off their feet all day trying to keep up with the demand,” says Chris. “Our Cat merch sales were up more than 250 per cent on 2023, which proves that Cat continues to be an industry leader and a valued brand, even after all these years." Chris says that both Cat’s heritage and present- day innovation were firm drawcards. From fans of the brand to loyal owners, the mix of history and the latest technology generated all sorts of conversations.
“You really can trace the evolution of heavy construction machinery alongside the development of the Caterpillar brand. So, on one hand we have this incredible heritage that people love to see, including plenty of owners of original gear. But also, people like to see what the latest Cat equipment looks like too. A big part of what we do is educating today’s and tomorrow’s customers about the advantages modern Cat equipment brings to the job site.” Terra Cat also took the opportunity to mark 100 years of Caterpillar with some of its most valued customers at an exclusive celebration dinner on the Friday evening. “Caterpillar’s success from its humble beginnings transforming agriculture, to one of the largest, most identifiable and trusted companies in the world, is 100 per cent attributable to its customers,” says Chris. “Hosting a special evening for some of our biggest customers was a simple way that we could say, ‘hey, thanks for the significant role that you’ve played in the success of both Terra and the Caterpillar brand globally’.” It might’ve been the final Wheels at Wa - naka, but 2025 also marked something of a new chapter for Caterpillar, with Terra hosting the inaugural New Zealand leg of the Global Operator Challenge.

Twenty-three of the country’s best machine operators competed in three different challenges using three different Cat machines–a 325 excavator, a 962M wheel loader and a 255 compact track loader– with the six best-scoring operators moving through to Saturday’s final. After a nail-biting finish, Mark Morley from Greymouth-based MBD Contracting was crowned the New Zealand champion. Read more about his win on page 7. Completing the Caterpillar-based festivities in Wa- naka was a world record-breaking parade of Cat machines that spanned the generations. A total of 242 machines – many of them vintage and masterfully restored – rolled through the event grounds, creating a perfect celebration of Caterpillar and everything the business has achieved over the years. “Despite the gloomy weather at the start of the weekend, the final Wheels at Wa - naka was a resounding success for us,” says Chris. “Seeing the passion for the Caterpillar brand, the huge turnout of
machines from across the country, and the outpouring of enthusiasm from everyone who attended this final event was both inspiring and humbling.” “I like to think that Wheels at Wa- naka attracts the equipment, the equipment attracts the people, and the people make the event. The conversations we enjoyed with visitors, customers, former employees and friends this year certainly reinforced the idea that the brand remains a true benchmark in the industry.”

GREYMOUTH’S MARK MORLEY CROWNED NEW ZEALAND’S BEST CATERPILLAR OPERATOR
Greymouth contractor Mark Morley successfully beat out 23 of the country’s best heavy machinery operators to be crowned the New Zealand champion of the Caterpillar Global Operator Challenge. A record-breaking 65,000 spectators attended this year’s Wheels at Wa- naka. Despite having to perform in front of a huge audience, 34-year-old Morley negotiated a Caterpillar excavator, wheel-loader and a compact track loader around a series of obstacle courses and time-based challenges. “I think the most nerve-wracking part was having three times the population of Greymouth watching me work,” the MBD Contracting supervisor laughs. “The nerves were at an all-time high, but I just tried to focus on doing the best I could, staying smooth and finishing each of the challenges within the tight time limits.” Despite having limited experience driving wheel- loaders and compact track loaders, Morley impressed the judges with his deft skills and accuracy, and after two days of competition was announced the champion. “When they called my name out, I was absolutely gobsmacked. I didn’t know what to think or how to react as I wasn’t expecting to win,” Morley recalls. “I thought I’d done OK at Saturday’s finals, but it was hard to know how you compared to the other operators as they were competing on different machinery at the same time.” Second and third places were awarded to Manawatu’s Allister Dransfield (Dransfield Contracting) and
Cambridge’s Jamie Ashby (C & R Developments). Terra Cat Chief Executive Officer Chris Heaton says Morley’s success at the final Wheels at Wa - naka event was a testament to the high skill level of operators in New Zealand. “ The level of competition at this first-ever Global Operator Challenge was incredibly high, and all contestants represented their companies and themselves exceptionally well, while showcasing the versatility of Caterpillar machines,” says Mr Heaton. “Caterpillar staff helped with the management of the GOC and commented that the hydraulic excavator skills of the Kiwi competitors were the best they’d seen.” “The GOC was a resounding success and we wish Mark the very best as he progresses to the next stage of the competition.” As the champion of Caterpillar’s first-ever New Zealand Global Operator Challenge, Morley will head to Japan in October to take on the best operators in the Asia-Pacific. If he wins there, he’ll progress to the world finals in Las Vegas in March 2026. “I’m super-excited but also a bit anxious about heading to Japan,” Morley admits. “I really want to do my best for myself, for MBD, and for Terra Cat. “I also feel like I need to perform at my best for all the competitors I went up against at Wa- naka. This is a great chance to represent New Zealand on the other side of the world.” Missed the action in April? You can catch the highlight reel here.

The first Next Generation models in Caterpillar’s compact track loader line, the Cat ® 255 and 265 are ground-up redesigns of their predecessors. Shaped by feedback from the operators who run them day-to-day, these models offer powerful performance, a better in-cab experience and a suite of industry- leading upgrades, which make all the difference for customers like Manawatu- based Stringfellow Contracts Ltd. Building on the features that made the D3 series so popular, the Next Gen 255 and 265 elevate Caterpillar’s loader reputation through improved engine performance, lift and tilt breakout force, stability, operator comfort and technology. Compared to the 259D3, the 255 offers a class- leading lift height of 3.15 metres, 36% more tilt and 26% more lift breakout force, while the 265 tops out at 3.35 metres and improves on the 289D3 with 19% more tilt and 22% more lift breakout force. Powered by Cat C2.8T and Cat C2.8TA engines respectively, both deliver 74.3 hp (55.4 kW), maintain horsepower across a wider RPM range and boast significant torque increases – that’s a gain of 13% for the 255 and 43% for the 265. Standard hydraulic system pressure is increased to 3,500 psi (24,130 kPa), meaning the loaders support all Cat Smart Attachments with the standard auxiliary hydraulics. Terra Cat industry manager Tim O’Meara explains that the ability to activate High Flow functionality via software is also new for these Next Generation machines. “Both models are factory fitted as ‘high flow ready’, so if in the future you’d like to attach a high-performance work tool, High Flow functionality can be activated when and where you need it.” A redesigned engine compartment that mounts the engine and cooling package lower into the frame and a stronger, stiffer undercarriage with torsion bar suspension mean the loaders deliver improved stability, load handling, material retention, and a smoother finish when grading. But don’t take it from us. Among the first to put the Cat 265 to work in New Zealand is Manawatu - based Stringfellow Contracts Ltd., a team with over 50 years in business and a portfolio spanning earthworks, drainage, roading, infrastructure and more. According to Stringfellows’ general manager, Simon de Rose, the 265 slotted into their operation exactly as intended. “We had a specific application in mind – we were looking for a suitably sized machine for kerb and channel preparation which had the technology and the attachments to handle the whole job without the need for handwork,” says Simon.

reminders, while the advanced touchscreen provides additional control, including a multicamera 270˚ view. Redesigned joysticks allow the operator to control all machine functions without removing their hands from the controls, and the unsurprisingly popular X-grip smartphone holder keeps their devices secure. “All those in-cab features make such a difference,” says Tim O’Meara. “That’s been a big motivation behind the demo days we’ve held across the country over the last few months. “It’s about getting operators into the new machines to experience those improvements firsthand – and to see how the performance upgrades can transform a jobsite.”
“With the kind of technology integrated into that machine, and the grader blade attachment we picked up with it, it’s hit the brief exactly. We have been able to complete the same task a lot quicker, and with a more precise finish.” Featuring a low entry point, entering and exiting the 255 and 265 loaders is easier than ever before. The redesign allows the operator to open the cab door without fully lowering lift arms to the frame stops. Visibility is also improved as a result of the lower engine mounting, with a 59% larger rear window and a bigger top window that provides a 15% increase in viewable area. “The standout was definitely the space in the cab,” says Simon. “That, plus all the upgrades made to the interior – it’s a much more enjoyable environment for the guys working in it day-to-day”. These ‘upgrades’ include a host of changes to the cab design and technology. Inside the cab, both the 255 and 265 offer 22% more volume and 26% additional foot space, with increased interior width, height, and hip room. The improved HVAC system now features auto temperature control, and operators have a range of mechanical and air-ride suspension seat options to choose from. The loaders also come with either a 127mm LCD monitor or a 203mm advanced touchscreen. The standard monitor supports Bluetooth, a rearview camera feed, creep, job clock, and maintenance

TERRA CAT BRINGS HANMER SPRINGS ICE RINK TO LIFE
Terra Cat helped the iconic Hanmer Springs Alpine Winter Fest deliver a new winter attraction for the community—a seasonal ice rink—by supplying a rental generator to help power the operation. It was a joint effort to bring the temporary indoor ice rink to life: Terra supplied a 200kVA generator, while TRANE provided the specialist temperature control chiller. Terra Cat territory rental manager for power systems, Dave Harrison, says the team jumped at the opportunity to get involved. “This one really hit close to home,” Dave says. “I’ve spent many years visiting Hanmer Springs with my family, so helping bring this project to life was an opportunity to give something back to a place that means a lot to me." “I was determined to make sure we met all customer requirements to the highest standard. The final result is a key new attraction for Hanmer Springs over the coming weeks, with reliable and efficient power running behind the scenes.” With a range of gensets from 30kVA to 1100kVA, Terra Cat offers flexible, powerful solutions to meet the energy needs of projects both large and small. Terra’s service doesn’t stop at delivery — we offer 24/7 backup and support, ensuring our customers are never left in the cold. The ice rink was a temporary attraction that will be rolled out at future Alpine Winter Festivals. Flooring was made in sections with pipes and liners that can be packed away and re-erected before next year’s event. For more information on Terra Power Systems, click here.
Visit Hurunui’s marketing executive, Flora Brons, says they’d aimed for 30,000 people to converge on Hanmer’s Alpine Winter Fest over the 13 days. “This is now the biggest winter festival in the country and it was an exciting journey to bring the new ice rink to life as part of the event,” she says. “While we couldn’t guarantee there’d be snow on the ground during the festival, we could guarantee there’d be ice and an awesome indoor activity for visitors to enjoy if it rained.” A soft launch for the temporary ice rink was held on Matariki weekend before the festival officially ran from 28 June to 12 July. The festival also included night tree climbing, a fairy light walk, pop-up light displays through the Hanmer Springs village and much more. Terra Cat is proud to have played a part in this exciting initiative and looks forward to supporting many more community-based projects around the country.

Terra Cat’s used oil analysis laboratory has been reaccredited to the ISO 9001:2015 standard with zero non-conformances for the fifth consecutive year. ISO 9001 is the world’s most recognised quality management standard, providing a framework to help organisations consistently deliver products and services that meet customer and regulatory requirements. “It’s a significant milestone, as it reflects not only our commitment to excellence but also the strength of our quality management system, which underpins every aspect of our operation,” says Terra Analytical asset operations manager Ian Pendle. “For our customers, this certification is an assurance that every sample processed in our lab meets the highest standards of precision, repeatability and service reliability.” Achieving this status is no easy feat. It requires an ongoing focus on quality control, continuous improvement, traceability, and a team-wide culture of accountability. Technical customer support supervisor Dave Meighan TERRA ANALYTICAL ACES ISO 9001 REACCREDITATION FOR THE FIFTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR
says, “Maintaining a five-year streak without a single non-conformance is particularly rare, and it speaks volumes about the discipline, ownership, and pride our team brings to their work every day.” At the heart of this achievement is the dedicated team of lab technicians, admin coordinators and fluid interpreters who ensure that every step of the process, from sample receipt to reporting, is carried out with meticulous care. “Their expertise not only safeguards our compliance but also drives better outcomes for customers by helping them make informed, proactive decisions about their machines,” says Ian. Terra’s used oil analysis laboratory examines over 90,000 fluid samples a year from engines, hydraulics, and gear systems to assess wear metals, contamination, and oil condition. These insights help Terra’s customers extend their equipment’s life, reduce downtime, and optimise maintenance planning and their total cost of ownership. The lab has been providing this service to customers for over 50 years.

Terra Cat is making life easier for its customers by now sending parts directly to their doors at no extra cost. In most cases, if the parts are ordered through Terra Cat’s parts team before 3pm and are a stocked item, they’ll be delivered to the customer’s business the next day. Terra Cat CEO Chris Heaton says this streamlined process is part of a series of recent changes designed to make Terra easier to work with. “Delivering parts directly to our customers saves them both time and money by not having to travel to their local Terra Cat branch to order, and then again pick up their parts,” says Chris. “We’ve also consolidated our parts holding to two main distribution centres in Auckland and Christchurch to improve the overall parts availability that our customers need.” CONTACTING TERRA As part of the changes, Terra Cat has also simplified how customers can get in touch with the parts and service teams, to ensure they speak to the right person at the right time. At the same time, enhancements have been made to the tracking feature on Parts.Cat.Com, allowing customers to locate their parts using real-time ‘last mile’ tracking. This includes a tracking number, a tracking link, and courier information. “The last phase of a package’s journey from the distribution hub to the customer’s doorstep is the most unpredictable part of the delivery process,” says Chris. “Providing real-time visibility on the location of a package provides peace of mind for our customers, and removes unnecessary trips to the courier depot or scheduling conflicts with technicians.” Note – real-time tracking is only available for parts ordered through Parts.Cat.Com, as Terra’s parts ordering system has limited tracking capability. Should you need an update on a part, call 0800 447 225 and they can either track the parcel or provide you with a tracking number.

Pascal Brosnahan, Mining Sales Manager THIRTY YEARS IN MINING
Having spent three decades immersed in mining in different corners of the world, it’s fair to say mining sales manager Pascal Brosnahan has his finger glued to the pulse of the industry. An engineer by trade, Pascal first entered the mining industry in 1995 working in Western Australia. After stints working at South America’s largest gold mine, Yanacocha in Peru, and Colombia, he returned to New Zealand and took up a role with the Gough Group. As well as working at Macraes, Pascal worked closely with customers to set up the West Coast projects at Reefton and Stockton.
we look after everything from machine sales, delivery, the ongoing support, right through to rebuilds to give their machines a second life.” As well as the unmatched quality of Cat machines and the world class support that Terra Cat customers enjoy, Pascal says the new technology that’s emerging is raising the bar for the industry. “We’re in an exciting time technologically speaking,” he says. “The Cat Command remote control system that originally started in bulldozers is now spreading out to excavators, wheel loaders and haulers." “The technology used in the large autonomous projects is also starting to filter down to the smaller machines, such as the 775 truck. This is all going to create some exciting opportunities and solutions for our customers in the near future.”
“Having strong customer relationships is the key to
everything,” Pascal says. “That trust and understanding means we can offer a compelling solution that fits what our customers are looking for. “At Terra, we pride ourselves on having great relationships as
Wayne Baker, Forestry Business Manager TWO DECADES IN FORESTRY
Coming to work isn’t a chore for forestry business manager Wayne Baker. His tenure at Terra Cat spans over two decades – all of which he’s spent working out of our Rotorua service centre, commuting over an hour most days from Taupo- ’s Acacia Bay. Wayne was already well-versed in the forestry business when he joined Goughs as a territory sales manager in 2003, having spent nearly a decade operating, then selling, forestry equipment elsewhere. He went on to sell Cat equipment with us across the Bay of Plenty for 12 years, before stepping into a forestry product manager role and later becoming sales manager. Today, as Terra’s forestry business manager, he’s responsible for “any and all things forestry”. That means managing our relationships with both Caterpillar and Weiler, overseeing all sales, marketing
and industry activities and events, managing new and used inventory, and supporting a team of forestry TAMs and product reps. “We’ve got a highly specialised team because the product is so specialised,” Wayne explains. “And so a lot of what we do for customers is around application – rather than selling what’s in the yard because it’s in the yard, it’s our job to sell the machine that best suits their specific needs. You really become more of a consultant than a salesperson.” “I enjoy coming to work every day,” he says. “The forestry business is a relationship business, and so a lot of time is spent building relationships with customers. There’s more to it than just selling good equipment. It’s taking time to establish trust, integrity—really the same values Terra has—that’s what we do.”

He might’ve spent six of the past eight months in Antarctica, but Terra Cat apprentice Reuben Halliday is already looking forward to returning to the ice in the near future. Reuben completed a four-month summer season from October to March, then returned for a two- month stint from April to May as part of a new Terra Cat winter programme. “The overall experience was just mindboggling and unreal,” Reuben enthuses. “I’d wake up every morning and couldn’t believe where I was, and what I was doing. I’d walk to and from work and all around is just mountains, and this white, flat landscape as far as you could see. It was crazy to think that we were the only people around for miles.” Over the summer months, Reuben was primarily based at McMurdo Station, but regularly travelled by Scott Base to the runways to repair and maintain equipment. Given the harsh environment, there was never a shortage of work, and the Terra team was constantly busy with a variety of jobs. “There was no time to ask, ‘what should we do now’ as there was always something that needed servicing, maintaining or repairing,” he says. “We’d work on Cat equipment, bulldozers, wheel loaders, excavators, track loaders, large Mobiltrac tractors, telehandlers, and sometimes utes and vans.” Over the winter months Reuben and the team mainly worked out of the vehicle maintenance facility (the VMF), keeping the equipment in running order. “The most challenging part was probably learning all the different systems. When a piece of equipment has an issue, you’ve got to get yourself up to speed quickly, figure out how everything works, and apply your knowledge from Cat to the other equipment. There was a lot of thinking on the fly.” SIX MONTHS ON THE ICE
During summer, Reuben was mostly on the night shift, but when it’s light 24 hours a day in the middle of summer, it took little time for him to get into the groove: after all, he’d go to sleep in a blacked-out room and wake up with the sun still shining. It was a vastly different experience in winter as the team worked in constant darkness. “It was a completely different vibe being pitch black, even in the middle of the day,” he reflects. “It was a great opportunity to learn from some of the team who’ve spent a lot of time in Antarctica.” Another advantage of the winter stint was seeing some phenomenal southern lights. “Some of the Aurora Australis displays were just incredible, with all the colours of the rainbow bursting right above you, even in the middle of the day. It was pretty surreal to experience.” Outside of work, there were plenty of activities to keep the teams entertained. The gym was regularly used, the hiking tracks to the tops of the surrounding hills provided world-class views, and there was snowboarding available, almost on the doorstep. “During winter there’re more indoor activities, but there’s always something happening, such as quiz nights, karaoke, stargazing and heaps more. There were always ways to keep ourselves entertained.” Terra Cat has sent a total of 12 technicians to Antarctica over the summer and winter seasons, to support the United States Antarctic Programme. Reuben will return for a second three-month winter stint in August. “Man, I’d live there if I could,” he says. “As soon as I heard about the opportunity to return for the winter programme I was like, ‘sign me up’.” Photos: Hayden Sims and Reuben Halliday

CATERPILLAR ANNOUNCES ANNUAL PRODUCT UPDATES FOR CAT ® EXCAVATORS Helping to improve machine efficiency and get operators quickly to work, the enhancements include Cat Grade technologies, a new User Interface (UI) for quick navigation and an Advanced Payload option for Cat track excavators.
CAT GRADE ENHANCEMENTS With 2025 model builds, Cat Grade with Advanced 2D features and functions are now integrated into standard Cat Grade with 2D. Compared to traditional grading methods, Cat 2D technology empowers operators to work more efficiently in a range of applications by delivering real-time guidance for accurate vertical and horizontal control. It helps to ensure that cuts and fills are made to exact specifications, without undercutting or overcutting, and can eliminate the need for ground stakes in most applications. “Our 2D grading technology provides easy adjustments to target depth and slope using joystick commands, the touchscreen interface, or a jog dial. It displays target grade with visual guidance plus height and depth,” says Jason Ho, senior global product consultant – excavation for Caterpillar. “To help ensure long life, the integrated components are protected from damage, and 2D works with multiple bucket types, including digging, cleaning, grading and tilting.” For customers grading complex designs, Grade with 3D technology is now a factory-installed option that can be ordered for track and wheeled excavators.
This new option includes all the hardware required for the 3D system, installed and tested from the factory. It provides an easier upgrade path for those who want to add Cat Grade with 3D after initial purchase. NEW USER INTERFACE Cat Payload for excavators and material handlers delivers precise bucket load information with on- the-go weighing to help prevent overloading or underloading. From reordering work tool lists to creating new work tool combinations, the display’s new UI starts quickly and enables operators to easily set up machines and access information so they get to work without delay. Operators keep track of the amount of material moved and can split tasks between truck loading in Weigh Mode and moving material around the site in Stockpile Mode. The ability to input couplers and attachments into the system makes setting up work tool combinations highly efficient by significantly reducing calibration time. “While Cat Payload helps operators to accurately hit load targets and avoid underloading, overloading or misloading materials,” adds Ho, “customers with track excavators can upgrade the system to Advanced Payload for expanded capabilities such as custom tags, daily totals and electronic ticketing.” “When combined with VisionLink ® , Advanced Payload enables customers to analyse job sites and individual assets for remote management of production targets and key metrics.”

REDUCING THE COST OF OUR MOST-USED PARTS
In a move beyond promotional activity, Terra Cat has reduced the price of some of its highest-selling parts to support customers with their ongoing maintenance.
Items that’ve had their prices reduced include high- consumption parts such as filters, and structural items (bolts, nuts, seals, pins, bearings etc). Parts.Cat.Com is already reflecting the new retail prices of these high-consumption items. To discuss CVAs (customer value agreements) or for more information on what this new pricing means for customers, contact 0800 447 225.
“We know the economy is tough at the moment and many of our customers are facing pressure from increasing costs, so we’ve made the call to do what we can to help them,” says Terra’s executive manager of parts and digital adoption, Chris Amor. “By adjusting the price of the parts our customers need the most, they can save money, be more productive, and maintain their Cat equipment for less.”

INDUSTRY CONNECTIONS As well as a huge Easter weekend at Wheels at Wa- naka, the Terra team has enjoyed catching up with
customers from all around New Zealand at several other recent industry events. QUARRYNZ CONFERENCE In July we had a fantastic night at the Terra Cat Welcome Dinner at the 2025 QuarryNZ Conference in Hamilton. 520 attendees joined us for the evening, making for a record turnout. A massive thank you to ex NZ Rugby League captain, Tawera Nikau for his outstanding after-dinner address that kept everyone entertained, and congratulations to Michael Brown from Stevenson Aggregates who took home this year’s Terra Cat Travel Award. Our Terra team thoroughly enjoyed connecting with delegates, industry leaders and other suppliers over the three-day conference. We look forward to doing it all again in Invercargill in 2026! NATIONAL FIELDAYS The 2025 National Fieldays had plenty of deals done on the range of Cat equipment on display, including excavators, wheel loaders, compact track loaders, rollers, generators, and industrial engines. Contractors also took the opportunity to get hands-on with a Next Generation Cat 255 compact track loader with a box blade in our demo zone. SUPER RUGBY CHAMPIONS And finally, as long time Global Partner of the Crusaders, Terra Cat congratulates the Club on winning the 2025 Super Rugby Pacific competition. We’ve enjoyed being on the ride to another title, and it’s been fantastic to engage with our customers from across New Zealand throughout the season. Check out highlights from these memorable events.
THANK YOU!!
