CIPP’s summer sizzler THE INSTITUTE closed its offices early on Tuesday 18 September for a charity summer sizzler, with various activities and stalls designed to raise money for our two chosen charities: Acorns Childrens’ Hospice and Cancer Research UK. In total, the CIPP raised £475 between the two charities. During the summer sizzler event the CIPP hosted a barbecue and chocolate fountain, a Harry Potter themed ‘where’s Harry’, a tombola and raffle. There was also the opportunity to learn about and pet various animals including a rabbit, snakes, gecko and tarantula from Animalia Wonders. Raffle prizes were donated from various organisations, including: ● iPad – Pixl8

● £30 meal voucher from Miller & Carter, Dickens Heath, Solihull ● meal for two and bottle of wine from The Farm, Monkspath.

The event formed part of the CIPP’s charity week which also featured a photo competition on the Monday, a cake sale on Wednesday, a guess-the-baby competition on the Thursday, and a hippy-dress-down on Friday 21 September which coincided with the international day of peace.

Cintra’s bicycle race supports COCO charity TEAMS FROM the award-winning human resources and payroll company took part in the Hadrian’s Wall Cycle Challenge, a 174-mile cycle race along the length of Hadrian’s Wall World Heritage Site, raising in excess of £2,500 for COCO (Comrades of Children Overseas) in the process. The international children’s charity, based in Newcastle upon Tyne, works with communities in remote regions of the developing world on projects that provide children with access to the education that is essential for a good start in life. The race proceeds will go towards supporting COCO’s work with communities in East Africa, helping young people access the education that can allow them to build successful futures for themselves. Adding an element of friendly rivalry to the annual fundraising initiative, the participants undertook the challenging cycle ride through stunning scenery and testing terrain in teams of three. Team Twits on Bikes won by the narrowest of margins, holding off stiff competition from Team Coast Busters and previous winners Team Danish Dynamite. Commenting on the race, Carsten Staehr, Cintra chief executive officer (CEO), said: “What an amazing weekend. The weather was kind to us this year and the scenery simply spectacular. The camaraderie and hospitality we encounter on this annual challenge truly warms my heart, as do the donations that flood in from colleagues, friends and family. In addition, knowing that we are raising much needed funds for one of my favourite charities makes this challenge all the more enjoyable.” Lucy Kendall, COCO CEO, commented: “All of us at COCO are delighted with the efforts of Cintra for organising, recruiting and

completing the Hadrian’s Cycle Challenge. This was the first time we tried this route and have heard nothing but great things about the splendour of the views across the beautiful countryside of the North! “The funds raised will be used to run the first training workshop for all nine of our programme managers in East Africa. These men and women will learn to improve their IT and communication skills as well as enhance their personal professional development and, in line with Cintra’s values, be super happy! Thank you to you all for making happy happen in East Africa!”
