Modular Housing Outcomes – Understanding Impacts for Residents and Local Communities
Description In 2017, the Government of British Columbia announced the Rapid Response to Homelessness Program as an immediate response to address homelessness across B.C. The Province committed $291 million over two years to build 2,000 modular supportive housing units for people who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness. The modular housing evaluation examines the impacts of modular housing on residents and local communities. The specific outcomes reviewed include: impacts on homelessness, housing stability, quality of life, health of residents, community acceptance and use of emergency health care services. Resident outcomes for the first 17 modular supportive housing developments are available online. Impact This study supports building community acceptance of supportive housing by demonstrating positive impacts and lessons learned from developing modular housing.
