Building Performance Monitoring and Assessment of an Innovative Six-Storey Building in Victoria

Description This research study aims to measure the performance of an innovative six-storey wood-frame building to validate design assumptions. The building proposed by the Greater Victoria Housing Society is designed to meet the high energy efficiency standards in Step 4 of the BC Energy Step Code for Part 3 buildings. The building will be instrumented to allow for long-termmonitoring of energy use, indoor air quality, building enclosure performance, acoustic behaviour and wood movement of the structure to better understand the in-service performance. The measured performance will be compared with design targets. Impact Findings from this study will help to improve the design and operation of future five and six-storey wood-frame buildings pursuing Passive House or Upper Steps of the BC Energy Step Code.
