Eggs & Issues: Career Pathways with PTECH and CTECH Recap

Two students on the Eggs & Issues Panel share insight into their PTECH and CTECH experience.

R ochester Community and Technical College (RCTC) hosted Eggs and Issues: Career Pathways with PTECH and CTECH, on September 30, 2021. This session introduced the new Pathways in Technology Early College High School (PTECH) program that has recently been added to RCTC through a partnership with Rochester Public Schools, Mayo Clinic, and IBM. PTECH joins the Career Technical Education at Heintz (CTECH) to promote career readiness for in-demand fields and offer access to new job opportunities. These two cutting-edge programs provide high school students with a direct pathway into their chosen career field and fill critical workforce needs. The session included guest speakers Dr. Jeffery Boyd, President of RCTC, Senator Carla Nelson, and Darren Saner, Career Pathways Counselor with Rochester Public Schools. There was also a panel featuring Kari Kolling Anderson, Assistant Principal with Rochester Public Schools, Zoey Chen, current CTECH student, Guy Finne, Workforce Development Director for Mayo Clinic, Heidi Kramer, PTECH Operations Manager, IBM, and Rachel Kuol, a current PTECH student. All the guest speakers had great insight on both of these programs. The session concluded with tours of the PTECH facility and a ribbon cutting ceremony.
