COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT & SERVICE

Relief Drive Efforts Support Storm Victims

In response to the devastation caused by PTC No. 8 and Hurricane Helene, BCC held a relief drive that collected one and a half truckloads of essential supplies, which were delivered to Brunswick Family Assistance for local distribution and to Blue Ridge Community College (BRCC) to support those hardest hit in western North Carolina. The relief effort was aimed at addressing the urgent needs of communities struggling to recover. Donations were sent to the hardest-hit areas of Western North Carolina. In addition to the physical donations, BCC raised $6,000 in monetary contributions, used to purchase much-needed cold-weather items such as blankets, sleeping bags, coats, gloves, and hats for both adults and children.

Team BCC Honors Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with Day of Service BCC employees and students donated their time at the Brunswick Family Assistance (BFA) Food Pantry in Bolivia, NC. Working in shifts, our volunteers spent the day prepping boxes, sorting donated clothing, preparing food boxes for families, stocking shelves, and assisting with client orders. The camaraderie was inspiring, and the impact made by the Food Pantry on the community is immeasurable.
