• BCC signed an articulation agreement with Appalachian State University to join their Aspire Appalachian partnership for Associate in Arts and Associate in Science students to transfer to ASU. • A new Forensic Accounting certificate program was established by the Business department. • BCC was selected to participate in the Undergraduate Research Curriculum Development Project (URCDP) in partnership with Forsyth Technical Community College and North Carolina State University.
Brunswick Community College Signs Instructional Service Agreement with Wayne Community College for AI Curriculum
Brunswick Community College (BCC) and Wayne Community College (WCC) have signed an Instructional Service Agreement (ISA) for Artificial Intelligence (AI). The ISA provides approval for WCC to offer AI curriculum online to BCC students after they have completed their first-year general education classes. Students will complete 34 credit hours at each community college to earn an Associate in Applied Science – Artificial Intelligence Engineer degree. The partnership between the two schools began in the Fall of 2024. BCC President Gene Smith is excited for his students to explore more workforce opportunities through this collaboration. “We look forward to promoting this
program and providing students with these wonderful opportunities in new technology,” he said. WCC President Patty Pfeiffer said the ISA will increase workforce availability in Wayne and Brunswick counties and eastern North Carolina. “Artificial intelligence has become something we all are using, even if we don’t realize it,” she said. Pfeiffer added that AI professionals contribute to future advancements in healthcare, finance, technology, and more.
