8.8 Co-delivering courses When co-delivering courses with peer Instructor Members/Instructor-Members- In-Training, it is essential to ensure that all Instructor Members/Instructor-Members- In-Training plan the co-delivery effectively, communicate clearly and work supportively to deliver an excellent high-quality training experience to learners. To support this, as standard good practice, Instructor Members/Instructor-Members-In- Training are expected to: – Meet in advance of the scheduled co- delivery to plan the course delivery – Agree on the sections of the session plan each individual will be delivering and how the co-deliverer will be supporting the delivery when they are not actively delivering content – Agree plan of action to manage breakout room/activities – Agree plan of action to monitor and manage learner engagement and distress – Agree plan of action to effectively manage disruptions, any differences in delivery styles and unforeseen situations – Meet to debrief with co-deliverer at the end of each day of course delivery – Provide constructive reflections and feedback on co-delivery experience – Ensure all interactions and communications with co-deliverer are clear, professional and timely

– Provide the mentor with all their learner feedback and detailed self-reflections on their two co-deliveries via the Instructor Portfolio sections on the Online Learning Hub. (Send learner feedback via email to mentor for Youth only) Mentoring activities and conversations should be conducted at mutually convenient times for both the mentor and mentee. Informal mentor/mentee conversations should be a reasonable length and frequency for both the mentor and mentee. A formal mentoring session should not exceed one hour in duration. We recommend agreeing a set duration and topics/focus of conversation that you need to cover within this allocated time in advance. If a National Trainer cannot continue with their mentoring commitments due to exceptional circumstances, they should first contact the Training and Consultancy Directorate. 8.7 Instructor- Members-In-Training sign-off deliveries Where an Instructor-Member-In-Training encounters an issue with unexpectedly being unable to co-deliver their scheduled co- delivery course during the sign-off period, they must in the first instance contact the Training and Consultancy Directorate for further guidance on next steps. In some extenuating circumstances, where the co-deliverer is unexpectedly unavailable for the co-delivery, with prior approval from MHFA England, it may be possible for the Instructor-Member-In-Training to solo deliver the course if deemed appropriate in that particular instance.
